Overzealous?

    Default Overzealous?

Villain is 21/17/3, seems to be standard TAgg with a few moves. History between us has probably engendered only wary respect for each other - neither of us is doing or showing down anything crazy. However I am running LAggier (27/21/4) and this person could easily be using a HUD.

    Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Hero (MP) ($168.75)
    CO ($101.50)
    Button ($130.95)
    SB ($54.45)
    BB ($137.15)
    UTG ($100)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 6, 7
1 fold, Hero raises to $3, 1 fold, Button calls $3, 2 folds

    Flop: ($7.50) 7, 9, 10 (2 players)
Hero bets $5, Button raises to $15, Hero raises to $47, Button calls $32

    Turn: ($101.50) K (2 players)
    Hero bets $118.75 (All-In)...

what do you think he has?
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

    - Overcard flush draws (As Js, As Qs, Qs Js - I would guess he 3-bets AKs most of the time, although that's possible too if he sees me as LAggy and is trapping a little bit)

    - 88, particularly if he has the 8s

    - JJ maybe but I don't give much weight to that because I think he usually 3-bets that hand preflop

    - T9

    - 98, particularly if he has the 8s

    - sets, but I don't give as much weight to those either because they should really be 4-betting the flop in my opinion, and I think this player's opinions of how to play hands are probably pretty close to mine most of the time

i'd actually raise the flop a little less so my turn bet is a slight overbet but id say this is played pretty damn well. congrats.

    Aw shucks.

    Results -

Unfortunately for me he had a set of nines (wat, RLY? you live dangerously son!) and snapped me off, but unfortunately for him the sweet ace of spades arrived on the river.

The turn is a slight overbet, are you saying you still want it to be a larger overbet?

    EDIT: nm I'm dumb

People who make comments like "he never has a set if he plays that way on a board like this" confuse me, because I see sets and 2P played slow on very wet boards all the time. People arent playing the board, they're playing their hand.

    Nice catch .
Just dipping my toes back in.

That guess was on the assumption that he played a pretty good TAgg game, which he had on every previous hand (though admittedly that was limited data and not exactly over 10,000 hands or anything). I'm not quick to give people credit at these stakes either, but this particular player I thought was pretty solid and would have 4-bet there. I'm still not sure if he thought he was letting me hang myself (slowplay) or if he was genuinely concerned I might have something and was trying for a cheap showdown. Either way, his holdings were a mild surprise to me, but I did figure them to be possibly in his range regardless.

And thank you. I was very happy to see that ace.

I think I prefer betting 65ish with a draw on this turn but shoving my sets and straights
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Note that button only has $80 left at that point.

    oops

I meant that in the event that villain has you covered
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?
