Don has 24 grapes. Rosa has grapes, too. Don adds to find how many they have together. He has to regroup when he adds. Does Rosa have 6, 3, or 5 grapes?

I'll just say 5 because I am confused, it's my favorite number and you can't divide 24 by 5

I'll go for 6 because adding 6 to 24 gives an answer that isn't in the twenties.

True story, I went to one of my 2nd grade daughters class parties and participated in a similar "Are you smarter than a second grader" question. It was called "carrying" when I went to school so I had no clue what the answer was and was therefore in the FAIL category.

This was on my sons homework, and I had no fucking Idea what regrouping was either. I even googled it and got no better explaination. Then my son explained it to me.

funny question. Is that a for grade 2? Do they know prime factors and common dividers? (right answer would be 5 as 24 and 5 have no common divider) |
