Too conservative?
When I first started I was a calling station. Then,I began reading up on pot odds and trying to make smarter decisions on when to continue drawing. I still only have a basic understanding of pot odds. Sometimes I wonder if I've gone too tight though(esp. in live games). Two examples from a home cash game last night to the best of my memory:
I was short stack with about 1/3 the amount of chips(60bb) as my opponents in both of these hands.
Hand 1:
I've got J 10 on the button
Flop is Q 9 6 pot is 12bb
Player 1 bets 5bb
Player 2 calls
I call (pot 27bb)
Turn is 4
Player 1 bets 10bb
Player 2 folds
I figure I've got 8 outs/16% of making my hand but I've got to pay more than that to draw, so I fold. I peek at the next next card and of course it was a K
Hand 2:
I raise with AK
2 callers (pot 28bb)
Flop comes 884
I c-bet 1/pot 8bb
Both players call (pot 52bb)
Turn comes 10
I check, player one bets 1/2 pot(25bb) , player 2 calls (pot 102bb)
I figure 2 overcards, 12% chance of hitting the 'possible' best hand(only able to beat pair of 10s really) but being charged 20%. I fold.
River comes A
Pot is won by player 2 with A6
Am I being too conservative here? I especially feel like I'm more conservative live than online.
