wondering where the 3 extra chairs at my 6max table came from

    Default 200BB tables at FTP

I'm finding "deep" 200BB buy-in tables at $25NL on FTP now. Are these new? I don't remember running into them before...

Also... If I'm looking to take a stab at $50NL, is it better to just buy in 200BB at $25NL as the impact of the blinds will be less?

I'm not at those levels myself, but I did recently read Harrington on Cash where he goes into discussing stack sizes and how that has a great impact on optimal play. The way I understand it, your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you buy in 200bb deep and everyone else does the same - you will learn to play deep stacked. It won't prepare you any better for 100bb at the higher limit imo. It might be an interesting and profitable style of play to learn, but I don't see it in any way directly related to jumping up to the next level.

To paraphrase your own comments - you'll be sitting on a bigger stack but looking at the same bet sizes that you're used to. I think one of the main points of desensitization when jumping levels is that what used to be a big bet in $ value now happens all the time and is a small one. And that can make people play scared when coming to a new level. In 200bb 25NL you won't be seeing any bigger bet sizes - just bigger stack sizes. And if they really do play deep stacked poker you may learn some lessons at 200bb 25NL you should definitely not bring to 100bb 50NL if that is your next target.

people (generally) suck at playing deep. Position and fear are your friends.

The more I play, the more I realise I want to be good deepstacked. 8+-tabling, after an hour I'm generally 160+bb deep on at least a couple of tables, and often I'm covered by at least one other... Being deep DOES help you prepare psychologically for the next limit. Dunno if it will be good for your play tho, cos you'll eventually want to move to 100nl and that's 100bb again. Definitely better off (longterm) learning to beat 50nl with 100bb, but maybe deepstack 25nl is a better way to build your bankroll for a while.
