Default river shove.. or river check raise? 2/5 pounds

    Hand 1:
    - villain is pretty solid overall, taggy 17/13/6
    - no real reads on how he's playing today, but I don't remember him getting out of line ever too much

    Hero: $495
    BB: $1788.40

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is SB with
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $18, 2 folds, Hero calls $16 (pot was $25), BB folds.

    Flop: ($41, 2 players)
    Hero checks, UTG+1 checks.

    Turn: ($41, 2 players)
Hero bets $30, UTG+1 raises to $105, Hero calls $75 (pot was $176).

    River: ($251, 2 players)
    Hero ??

    Hand 2:
    -villain is running at 24/15/3
-we have played many hands together before. He calls my 3-bets pretty lightly even OOP. He has shown up with suited aces and midpairs OOP in 3-bet pots before
-on previous occasions he has thought I've been 3-betting him very lightly and made plays at me on the flop with low pairs, only to get called by my overpairs
-this is my FIRST hand at this table today.. but let the 3-betting begin!

cr seems pointless in 2 to me
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

1). Bet big. He probably has a straight and will call figuring you have a missed flush/lower straight often enough. I don't know if he is going to call a c/r on a paired board, and he may lay out a smaller bet than the one we would make by betting the river ourselves if we check to him.

2). He is going to assume it is very unlikely for you to have an Ace, and will probably call a river bet with a lot of pairs given your history. I don't like a c/r here either because with most of those pairs he is almost certainly going to check behind on the river if you check to him.

I think hero will check behind in hand 2 a lot, so I bet big and hope to get a call from AJ. I'm not afraid of an 8.

    And push hand 2.

Hand 2 seems easy, big river bet (maybe even shove).. hand 1 is harder. I'm leaning towards a c/r, but both lines seem kinda obvious to me I'm not sure if you'll be getting too much value here.
