Default I want to buy laptop for poker

The laptop should be cheap (max $1.5k).
I want to be able to 4table comfortably on the pokerroom skin. (non resizeable tables). is 1440x900 resolution big enough or do i need 1920x1200?
It should be a solid computer that will run smoothly and not crash too often.
    It should have good wireless.

    Any help?
Do I need a 17 inch screen or is 15.4 good enough?

it doesn't need to run vista. i'm happy playing on xp or windows 2000 if it runs smoothly. i would much rather play on a solid windows 2000 than a slow, crash-prone vista.
it does not need a mad amount of storage.

poker is the primary use for this laptop. any advice?
i play $600nl and am a serious player. if you think a more expensive laptop is better please post.

    thanks

No thoughts on specs, although you should be able to get dual core 2GB of RAM for that money. And definitely run it on XP not Vista
But. Are you going to be moving around a bunch (i.e. need a laptop0p)? And also, have you thought about having a second (external) monitor?

I play poker primarily from my laptop. Any decent new laptop will do fine--mine is a 2 year old Dell with Pentium 1.7Ghz processor. Screen size: Bigger is better. Resolution: 1440x900 is fine. I four table and they overlap a bit but that makes it easier to tell when your turn pops up at each table since it will automatically comes to the foreground. That simple action makes it SOO much easier to manage in my opinion. I tried tiling them evenly over the screen but it made it more difficult to notice that it was my turn to act because nothing "popped up". Lastly, get an extended warranty on the built in mouse left-click button...mine is toast after about 150k hands. Either that or use an external mouse if possible...

Buy for screen size, and add a stick of cheap laptop RAM.

The screen size will kill if it isn't at least 17" trust me. I might even go for 20" because I don't want to make a costly misread of a bet or something like that playing $600NL.

You can add 1GB of RAM to a laptop pretty easily. RAM is dirt cheap nowadays, and you only have to know how to use a screwdriver to install it.

So, 17-20" monitor, 512MB RAM (add more later). Dell is best for customer support.

Check on the web, google, newegg, auction sites. You will get a good deal.

I just bought a Dell 1520 for poker and I am very happy with it. Look out for the 3gb RAM free upgrade. However it only comes with Vista.

i'm buying a lapop because i want to play on the move. i'm abroad for the year and don't have internet in the building that i'm staying in.
so buying a 2nd screen isn't an option.

i will be taking my laptop to cafes with free wireless to play online poker.

what resoultion do i need to fit 4 pokerroom tables on the screen without any overlap?
i can survive with a bit of overlap. i have done in the past

1600x1200 and it doesnt come cheap. Granted almost all the sites now have resizable tables.
