    Default A-crap shove? ($6.50 Turbo)

So, a bad move early on is hurting me as the blinds go up. I'm about to hit the BB and the next hand it goes up to 120/60. I find this situation a lot where I'm faced with a short stack and A-crap. Should I shove or look for a better spot in this instance?

I don't like the push as your not that short really for a Sng and we still have a fair amount of people left. I think this push is -ev in a 6.50 because we are getting called way to much and when we are we are not ahead nearly enough. I much prefer abusing late pos. spots were people are not calling wide enough vs my range. ( Good opps. make later +ev spots less likely and respect an Utg raise a bit more (?) but you do not have good opps most of the time in a 6.50.

As always a grain of salt with my response.

I'm not an authority on the subject, but I think there's less fold equity UTG (easier in later positions, after some limps / folds). I don't like shoving UTG against 6 opponents with a weak ace and 11BB. If you had like 7,8 BB I'd say it's high time to gamble. At this fragile spot though, I wait for a better time. It's much better to shove in later positions (when you stand to win some dead money from limpers... have gained some info).

Ace-crap in LP / Blinds I'm shoving MUCH more liberally.
    Here, nah.

    I wouldn't fault it though.

Edit: I'd rather shove KQ from the Button or T9 from the BB.

Pretty bad shove. Wouldn't shove this from past the CO. With over 11 BBs this is suicide. Maybe AJ, 88+ would be a good range here.

Edit: Looking at it again I wouldn't even shove this from the CO, not with 11BBs

My range is very similar, I'd say 77+, AJ+. Shoving A5o UTG is pretty bad here.

Thanks for the responses! I felt it was bad too, but my M was never 11 at this point, it was a little less than 8. Not to mention that I'm getting smacked by the raising blinds next orbit. Still a bad idea?

In SnGs you usually measure how deep you are in Big Blinds or BBs, not with Harringtons M. So yes, I still think my range is about right, and A5 is not even close. You say the blinds are only going up to 60/120 so you still aren't going to be close to real desperation after this hand.

    Yup horrible shove

Bad push, you are totally OOP, and A small is a very bad hand to push since you will usually be called by a hand that dominates you (Ax, mid PP etc...)
You are not desperate yet I would wait

Ah, okay. Come to think of it, I've been pushing too soon the majority of the time. That's a big thing I need to fix. Thanks again!

Yeah, your decision here isnt ruled by your stack, but by how many opponents you need to get through. Theres just too many people in front of you to push a weak hand here.
Just dipping my toes back in.

I'd rather push 9T than A5 here... but you arent that desperate yet, I fold here.
