    Default Quiting Poker - Thoughts??

Now, I am realitvely new to online poker. I've been playing a year or so now at sites like PokerRoom and FullTilt. I'm just wondering if I am the only one to experience this....

Typically I build my bankroll quickly (ie: 100-1500), and have little problem doing so. However, it seems that it always drops within the week. I don't find myself playing hands differently, and generally I'm still playing low stakes. It's the bad beats that seem to be killing me. I go ahead dominating preflop only to find the person catching runner runner. I'll give you two examples that stand out before me from yesturday.

It's a five player table 25/50. I am on the button. First to act raises to 1.75. Player two folds. Player three re-raises to $5.00. I have QQ. I know they have crap - its the way they play and why I'm at that table. (40+% frequencey). I reraise all-in for $25 to end it there. Blinds fold. Raiser of 1.75 calls immediately - like stupid fast - and the re-raiser (of $5) folds. The dude plays an 8,6 so I'm sitting pretty as I figured. Flop comes 2,k,3. Turn 4. River 5. And poof I'm broke again.

Another hand Im sitting heads up 25/50. Player X on the button raises to 1.75 with K7sc. I reraise to 3$ with AA. He calls. Flop comes 7c,3h,2d - rainbow. I check. He bets $3.00. I reraise all-in $15. He calls. Turn 6c. River Jc. Poof flush, and I'm broke again.

These are not isolated examples but things that happen almost too regularly against me when I am a big favorite.

Now honestly, am I a bad player or geting unlucky. I can't afford to play anymore at this rate. I love the game but it's not worth it. Someone help plz!

In the two examples you've given, you just got unlucky.

focus on the hands where you get the money in when behind and figure out if you could/should have done it differently.

Focussing on and blaming bad luck wont improve your game and it wont take away your bad luck either.

Make sure you are playing within your bankroll. It sounds like you arent if you are building up and rocketing down really quickly.

Alternatively realise that poker is a game and if you arent enjoying it then just stop playing.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

That's why we have bankroll guidelines so that runs of bad luck won't wipe out your bankroll.

I'm sure many people think about quitting like this, but you probably are getting genuinely unlucky mixed in with a few leaks.

The leaks can be fixed by posting histories and studying the game. The luck will eventually even out.

As others have said, going from 100-1500 quickly is either a really big heater or playing underolled, the latter of which normally spells disaster.

Never have all your money on the line. You know that no hand is 100% to win pre flop right? Learn a BR management that fits your game and lifestyle and stop worrying about one hand, two hands or a session. Losing happens, downswings happen. It's math, learn it and beat the game. Stop worrying about one fricken hand.

I used to have this problem when I started. First, learn how to size your bets on various streets and situations. Other tips:
    1) slowplay less
    2) bet your flops harder; while betting turns more carefully
    3) learn how to minimize your losses in drawouts (lower two pr, top pr)
    4) top pr can kill inexperienced players; learn when to value bet and when to laydown sometimes (very opp dependent).
