Ugh near tilt!

    Default Ugh near tilt!

Just left a $.10/.25 table... bought in for $25, played smart and safe up to $32 or so. Then, lo-and-behold, I get pocket twos and guess what? I flop a set! K 2 J is the board.. I push, someone pushes back. End up losing like $20 on that hand to pocket jacks. Should I have picked up on his set as opposed to him just perhaps overplaying two pair? Also, it's been like 5 days or so since I've played any sort of poker, and as such it hasn't been on my mind as much as it was.

Two hands later, I all-in with pocket aces and lose out to a set of queens.

Of course not. You don't win every session. You will lose again, and you will have worse bad beats. It happens to everyone all the time. Get over it.

Fair enough all, lol. My main concern was whether or not I should be able to pick up on the fact that he's got an overset.. I mean, for all intents and purposes, I had no read on the guy and he could've been overplaying an overpair. Anyways, lata

You can't pick up on this. When you flop a set, get all your money in that pot. It takes VERY special circumstances to not go the distance with a set.

LOL, I hate 22. I once rivered quads, getting all my money in methodically during every street, only to see villain showdown turned quad 7's. Obviously I lost an enormous pot.
Could I have picked up on that? No. But I could not have played it any other way.

    THAT is m0th3rfcking variance.

ofcourse we know when we are against higher set and we make laydowns in such situations and also we drop overpairs against set (because set > pair)

OR, set over set happens and its fine to get money in on not obviously scary board and if u went all in preflop versas queeeens then thats ideal situation it just dont workout 20% of time.

Don't get so tied up in the result of a single hand. Work on getting your tilt threshold to the point where it takes a bunch of coolers to get you worked up. Better yet, learn to laugh when silly stuff like this happens to you.

I sometimes find myself laughing at the end of a hand when all the chips were put in pre river. I can't help but laugh to myself when I think "I love how some players suck so bad!"

Yeah, that day I was especially frustrated.. had just finished moving, desiring to sit down and win a few bucks playing poker, and i got demolished instead. Now all's well, thanks again for the tips.

And Jessica Alba is way hotter than the piratey one.
