basically we're raising or pushing...which one do you choose, and why?

why are raising or pushing your only choices? I see calling here being a reasonable option sometimes.

Raising blows out a lot of hands that you have crippled right now (1010+)

The only hands that you'd want to raise here are flush draws, but thats pretty unlikely given the PF action, unless he has KQsuited.

Raising is good if you think he's capable of re-raising a wide range of aces preflop, otherwise, I think flat calling might get more action on later streets from worse hands.

I call and let him bluff his money off. I'm probably stacking of against AK here.

At 10Nl in the chatbox I type 'C'mon Spade' and push

Or higher I like to think then min-raise, try to make them think I have a hand like QQ/KK and I'm just 'checking' to see if they really have an ace, then they sometimes try bluff push.

I don't like calling to much because nobody really tries to bluff you out on later streets once you call, the best you usually going to get (from KK-etc.) is that they will call a 1/3 pot size bet on river.

Also I often fold AQ to a tight 3bettor is that bad? to avoid AK scenarios like this one could be.

There's only 1 A left in the deck. With a 3-betting range of JJ, QQ, KK, AK, we're far ahead. A raise folds out anything but AK, therefor I like a call. Interesting to see what villain does on the turn, but I can't see myself folding.

lol, i guess i was way off here.

here's what happened. i popped it 3x raise, and he calls. the pot on the turn was bigger than my stack, so pushing is only like...30%.

if that's the case, wouldn't just pushing the flop be better?

anyways, let's just say the turn was a blank and the river was a K.

river was a K.. and he had KK?

It depends on villain. If you know he's a call centre, then for sure, raise all day!

But against most solid players, a raise will blow them off their 2-outer, and you might get another bet out of them if you take a flop: call, turn: check-check, river: check-bet line.

If they lead into you again on the turn, its pushfest

i said to myself on the flop. well, if you have AK this is your lucky day.

i stomach sank when i saw the K on the river. i proceeded to puke when he showed KK.

Dont you just hate when you play badly and the best hand wins?

JK, i probably raise flop and look to get AI on the turn. If he's got AK, well, fuck him.

Hmm I think playing too aggro loses the most/ wins the least. I think calling flop or minraising are good. You certainly want to get it in at some point though.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

I don't raise the flop if I feel I can get stacks in on later streets. If that's the case, raising the flop wins the least and loses the most.

Classic wa/wb. Flat call all the way, check behind turn if checked to for river value. A good opponent isn't stacking off with a worse hand here and you don't have a read that he's bad (until the hand is over).
