Default A day in the life of a grinder...

Here is a question for anybody who commits alot of time each day trying to grind a profit...

Do you guys have a specific routine you go through as far as which games to play etc.? I feel like spending an entire day only playing SNGs can become incredibly streaky. Or am I wrong? When do you switch games (ie from SNG to ring games)? Are you constantly lookng for a game that you are having a hot streak in?

Me personally, I play ring games 97% of the time. I try to put in two 2 hour sessions 8 tabling 6max a day. My goal right now is just to log 10k hands a week. That's how I grind. I don't look to switch up and look for a "hot streak". I want to try to fit more MTTs in but I just don't like committing 4+ hours straight sitting down at the computer playing.

As for playing SNGs all day, I haven't done that, can't really comment.

grinders stick to 1 game. btw cash games are better than sngs. a lot more money - a lot quicker.

i'm going to be grinding for the next few weeks for 40hrs a week. i'll just be multitabling short handed NL tables. i won't really be looking around for good tables. players move around so much anyway. if i am at a bad table i'll move. if my stack gets big at a table (and i'm uncomfortable losing that amount) ill move tables.

    this is just wrong.

table selection is one of the most important things to learn (and one of the things I still am bad at which is why I stick more to MTTs).

QFMFT!! Table selection is my biggest money maker. I spend my whole session searching fish, playing weak tables and watching the lobby and stats of the tables I'm on.

What kinda stats are you looking at?

i'm looking for VIP/IP and flop aggression factor At weak tables, passive fish will pay you off with top pair

When I table select, it starts with the basics, VP$P and pot size. You want the loosest tables with the highest pot sizes. These stats are only accurate vs. each other in the lobby and are only a starting point. When on hte tables I then rely on my PT stats to keep an eye on the tables I'm at. If the VP$P drops to 30% or under, the PFR% is above 10% or the pot size starts dropping I will start to search another table.

I will also not sit with Lagg (35/20+++) to my left for too long, especially if short stacked. You want loose on the right and tight on the left when sitting at the table. The only time I will stay under these conditions is if I think there is an advantage somewhere. A large stacked loose player at the table or the laggs are short stacked.
