    Default New plan

I am losing way too many 'big' hands on either the turn or the river, mostly due to being outdrawn. A lot of these hands are when I am 150 bbs+ deep. My new plan is to fold whenever I lose pot control on the turn or the river. Any thoughts on this? I feel as though I may lose some value in the long run, but maintain a better winrate.

thats not a good idea, if you "lose pot control" that means the pot probably got really big, and then you usually are priced in calling with whatever.

just work on pot control. the best thing you can do is read up on it.

I think this is similar to a thing I'm working on - making less big calls when I'm probably not good but rationalize it, for example, by having a good hand and possibly inducing a bluff.

like today I called a river psb of 30bb with TPTK after checking the turn, but opp was so passive I was pretty sure he had me...yep, set of tens.

but sometimes, I see a huge bet, and the line just makes no sense and feels like a bluff. usually I'm right then. like I remember a hand recently where this person with taggish stats pushed over my river lead, and the only hand that made sense was like running 2pr, they seemed to take a few seconds to consider things, and my bet looked like a blocker to them, so I called with top pair for ~100bb. they had total air - a missed double gut shot.

so I think you shouldn't fold whenever you lose control of the pot, just if you get a bad feeling when it happens, if that makes sense.

What I mean here is that when I get a big hand(set+), and bet and control whats goin on I do great. Then all of a sudden I hit a big hand make my bets, then WHAM!! some idiot pushes, and I think I can't lay this down there is no way he called to hit that. Of course they did and there went my profits for the night...

Don't let the fact that you gave someone bad pot odds dictate your reasoning as to whether or not they're chasing something. A lot of people will do this if they think they will get your stack, and most just really don't care if they're getting bad odds, they want to hit that straight.

If someone hits a bigger hand they will let you know and I take their word for it despite what previous street action tells me. I wait until they have pushed me around a few times before I figure they're either over-valuing hands or bluffing me.

ya I think what I meant in my post is make more laydown if a passive villain wakes up like that, but not so much if it's an aggro and you sense something fishy.
