Default Strategies for AA in EP meeting resistance

I'm always having difficulty with overpairs or TPTK in EP when I face resistance. This hand is a good example. When he raises me back on the flop, my thoughts were that he could have made his hand with 2 pair (97) or a set. However, I thought it was more likely he was behind with TT-QQ or even TPTK and was testing to see if I had 2 high cards that hadn't hit, or he was semi-bluffing with a straight or flush draw or even AK. I thought it was 60-70% that I was ahead and so decided to push. The alternative would have been to call his raise on the flop then check-call small bets down or perhaps even check-fold if a third club fell (although this seems way too weak given his possible range). I didn't have his stats at the time (no HUD) but PT tells me subsequently that his figures are (24% VPIP and 10%preflop raise). Is that a reasonable analysis and how would others play this?

You played it fine. Just a suckout. If I had a read on villian as solid I would probably put him on a set here post flop though.
She looked at me and said youz a baby right?
I told her, I'm 18 and live a crazy life
Plus I'll tell you what the 80's like
And I know what ladies like

So against a solid player, you're folding this? Or check-calling?

you should stop just shoving your chips in with overpairs like this. it's the easiest way to pay off better hands.

what would you call it? hero got his money in while ahead and lost...i do believe that's the definition of getting sucked out on.

Ok, so how would you play it? Call the raise and then prepare to either check-call or check-fold on the turn/river? All seems very weak when there's a huge range that you maybe ahead of. How do you decide when to be aggressive and push and when to lay it down in these situations?

i tend to call the raise and 1/2 pot the turn versus unimaginative players here. Theyll raise/push a set and have to make a bad call with a flush draw.
It depends if you think opp will raise a flush draw here as to whether you 3bet. As a rule i dont 3bet a lot here anymore, its spewy against most passive small stakes players.

you just have to think about what villain is raising with. most ssnl players play their draws pretty transparently, meaning they c/c with them and then bet big when they hit. i like either miffed's line or a c/c for the turn.

I've usually seen the term used in relation to bad beats, more of a "wow, what a suckout"

hm...flush draw and a gut shotter, 38 bucks to win a 68.23 pot, about 1.5 to 1, and he has almost 50% chance of winng...I'll take that odds any day

Hey gang, my first post here. These marginal situations in poker very greatly, and are really key to any winning style in the short and longrun.

I had an EP AA situation like this earlier yesterday at a live $1-2 table. I put it to $18, and got heads up with someone who I pegged as fairly loose, and somewhat aggressive. He had $200 and i had $400

flop comes down K102 2 diamonds. I bet out $20, and he comes over at $80. I decidedly put him on a flush, or straight draw, or something like KQ or AK. However, instead of pushing him all in, I knew he would call because he is basically pot committed. Also, if he was on a set and I just call, I have another (small) chance to steal it on the turn if its a diamond. As well, if he is on the draw, Putting him all in on the turn would be a very bad call for him, but one he will also probably make with almost any range of hand.

Back to the hand, I call his raise, the turn is a 5 club and I go all in, and he calls. River is a blank, he turns over KJ and i scoop the pot.
