So there i am, happily munching my way through lunch at work and reading the excellent posts on the forum and I find i keep getting distracted by the "colourful" Avatars that seem to be growing in size. For example, I was reading a post by Miffed22001 when my secretary came in for dictation and she thought that i was into some porn...o site or something. LOL. seriously, aren't the Avatars (or rather their size) taking over just a little! It also takes more time to scroll through the posts to get to the content.


Think I'll just have to read the forum in the evenings in the comfort of my own study - then i can concentrate on the Avatars as well! LOL

You can turn them off. Go into your profile (link at the top of the page) and there is an option to turn off avatars and/or sigs.

i agree, the avatars can be too much, esp for reading at works. maybe we could just make them smaller so they wouldn't be so ..uh....distracting? i just hate turning them off because it makes it harder to recognize posters immediately.

If there was a thumbnail option (which made them smaller) I think that would be cool. I personally like the current size. It gives the site character and allows freedom of expresion. I don't want to be confined to 64x64 pixels.

As for blocking avatars (I've said the 100 times but I can't help myself doing it again).

FireFox + adBlock = block individual (i.e. offensive) avatars

Me too. Sometimes when someone changes his avatar, I have absolutely no idea who he is anymore.
