    Default Post-flop bet sizes

I just realized something seemingly silly I do all the time. I raise to 3x the bb preflop and one person calls. I hit a pair on the flop and bet ~20% of the pot. (There is no flush draw on the board in this case, otherwise I bet big enough to price the draw out). It just occured to me that I am betting less postflop than preflop, which doesn't really make sense since the pot is larger and I may look weak.

So, and hopefully this isn't too general a question, how big should post-flop bets be? What would be the minimum? 30% of the pot? 40? 50?

2/3 to 3/4 of the pot is what I hear often. I'd like to hear what the resident experts think also.

I typically go for 3/4 on the flop unless I'm trying to do something fancy, then usually around 2/3 on the turn and maybe half on the river if I still think my hand is good.
Currently at UB playing $50 NLHE 6max.
    Bankroll: ~$1900 (Almost BR'ed for 100NL.)

20% is definitely far too small. You're giving almost any hand favourable odds to draw.

Keep your c-bets, whether they are with air or with a made hand, the same everytime. It's impossible to get a read on your betting sizes then.

if you're in doubt, bet too much.

From reading HOHv1 I am starting to like the thought of 50% of the pot as a c-bet.

    Cash or tourney?

Really depends on the situation; in general I keep my cbets relatively consistent in the upper range between 1/2 (very very rarely) and 3/4 pot (more common). Sometimes I'll just pot it. If there are many in the hand and the flop is coordinated I've overbet the pot before too.

Yes, 20% generally isn't enough. I also find that 1/2 pot generally isn't enough if one is trying to push out draws. By strict pot odds it's a bad call for the drawer but a call can be justified by implied odds.

I bet 2/3-3/4 on an uncoordinate board, and usually pot sized bet on a corrdinated one

Is that also if you haven't hit the flop but still have a strongish hand, and you're just trying to work out if your opponent has hit?

Yep, I try to keep my bets pretty consistant whether I am bluffing or have a real hand.

I play it like TLR except I dont worry about consistency if im headsup against

    a) A total retard.
    b) A set hunting multitabling rock.

Both of these probably arent paying attention to bet sizes and will either fold to any bet or call/raise any bet so you may as well make it a smallish 1/2 pot bet.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.
