    Default SIT AND GO BANKROLL

    Hi

Whats a good bankroll for sit and goes? Currently im playing at partypoker and i have 47 buy ins for the current level im at. I was thinking of moving up to the next level which would give me 28.2 buy ins.

I have been playing for over 2 yrs, but i want to consistianly build my bankroll, and stop doing what i was doin before(ie win a chunk of change and move up and get busted out. Deposit more and win move up and get busted again. LOL ya i know its a crappy cycle.)

My general rule is something like ...

    $5s = starting roll, still need 10 buy-ins min.
    $11s = 20-25 buy-ins
    $22s = 25-30 buy-ins
    $33's = 30 - 35 buy-ins
    $55's = 40 buy-ins
    $109's = 50 buy-ins

    and so on...

the reason you need more as you move up (IMHO) is because the quality of player is much better, thus diminishing your ability to constantly find soft games etc.

You also have to bear in mind that it is also about being prepared for swings emotionally and mentally. I tend to err to the side of caution and am very conservative with my roll. I know Courtiebee (another poster on this site) does too and a lot of SnG players on this site are the same, but there are others who move up and down quite readily, because they are more equipped to deal with the swings.

Don't take this as gospel, it's just my $0.02's worth, but hopefully it might give you an idea. My general rule is play at a level where the win means something to you but the buy-in doesn't hurt if you lose

Hey Staresy, you're definitely right about the $11s being terrible these days. I've been playing the 2 table SnGs and they're soooo bad ... My bankroll is currently dying though, 'cause I can't get my QQ to hold up versus K9s preflop (multiple times). Just bad luck, I'm determined to not go back down. It's sooo tempting though, I think I've dropped 8 in a row ... THIS is why I'm conservative regarding my roll, godddd

exsentrik, I like Staresy's suggestions. I'm assuming you're playing 1 table SnGs? If you're playing multi-table SnGs, you should have more buyins.

    Hey

Im playing the 30 or 50 people sit and goes. I find there's alot more fish there and its easly to double up quickly. So how many buy ins should i have for that? I figure about 40 to 50 should be alright?

    What site/buy-in? $1 @ PokerStars, that's more than enough. $100, probably not.

If I were you, I would wait until I had a roll of at least $850 before I moved up to the $22s if you're playing multi-table SnGs. The variance is bigger in these things and your roll needs to be able to endure it. I highly recommend against moving up to the $22s with a $450 bankroll. I moved up to the $11s with a $600 bankroll playing 18 (and some 45) player SnGs, and I've dropped like 10 buyins since moving up due to bad beats and just bad luck. 10 buyins at $22 is half your roll. No good.

How much better does the play get from 11 to 22? i noticed that the difference from 6 and 11 is not to bad. YOu still get some dinks who will call the flush draw all the way to the end even when your throwin pot sized bets out in 11s. But when your down to the final 2 tables you get solid players who know when to fold em.

The only difference i noticed when moving up from $11 to $22 is that there are often more hangers-on when the blinds start to bite. The quality of play is nothing to be scared of, imo.
