Default AKs with a raise before me ($11 FO)

AKs, so pretty, but I didn't know what to do with it. Given no reads, is it okay to just fold it?

I would gamble, but I haven't FT'd an MTT in ages so don't listen to me.

You can fold, or you can call and see a flop if you are confident in your postflop play against an unknown player. I would never, however, reraise this against an unknown out of position.

This is a definate push/fold situation.

Why play it so weak? A LOT of raising hands are hands that you have dominated, and all but two are coinflips. I at least take a flop with this, but probably re-raise to around 1200. Knowing that if he pushes you have to call.
You should never wave at people you don't know, cause what if they don't have a hand. They'll think you're cocky. "Look what I got motherfucker, this thing is useful, I'ma go pick somethin up."

Stacks are deep enough for some postflop play.

Dwarf - the problem with calling out of position here is that you are basically just playing for a flop. It's an ok play but by calling you might very well end up throwing away the best hand when a nonA/K flop comes and then you just fold on any continuation bet.

The beautiful part of the push here is you will often get a call out of a bad player with a hand like AQ or Ax suited. And at worst you are probably racing. You can also get a fold out of a lot of hands.

The bad part of the push is that you also have a chance of being up against KK/AA and/or you might be behind in a race.

I don't see how you can fold here. That's just way too weak.

    I think I'm pushing there.

    Default it depends

I don't mind a fold here, but it all depends on when you want to make a stand. You weren't short stacked so you don't need to gamble on a coinflip, so waiting for a better position to open a pot isn't bad. Then agian, if you aren't going to call/push a raise with AKs what are you calling a raise with? I tend to be very aggressive and hate reaching ITM and not hitting the final so I agree with chardrian, I am pushing here.

you need a tight read to fold here, against typical opp it is clear push.

You might try a stop and go. Any flop gives you outs. if you're against a pocket pair between 77-JJ, then lots of flops you miss on give you fold equity.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

you're assuming limper folds if you call, and BB?

I think dr is saying that by calling you are increasing the odds for others to call as well. You do not want that many players in the hand. That's why a push is somewhat a better play. You isolate, make people play for all of thier chips, or you win it right there if everyone folds (which they won't).

I think that if you were to act directly behind the raiser, more of a case for folding could be made, as you really don't want to play all in against the raiser and the limper. I think if you were on the button you could probably make a case for seeing the flop. But as the only two people left in the hand are the limper and the raiser, a shove looks almost ideal.

There are many hands that you dominate, and only 2 that dominate you = AI.

I think this is an easy call here. You have 30 BB to start the hand. Who cares if you're out of position? Flop comes rags...cya.. I put the raiser on TT, JJ, QQ, KK, AA, AK. If flop comes A high or K high and he has AA or KK, damn that sux, gg MTT. I see no reason to put your entire tourney on a pre-flop coinflip here and i don't see the raiser (5x) folding to a push, he likes his hand. You defintely are not folding AK here tho.

I don''t like the push because we still have cheeps and are probably on the short end of the 45-55 coinflip. I think TT/JJ call your push all day and twice on sundays, and that is bleah.

I like the stop-n-go... although I don't know what I do if the flop comes QT9 or something

You need a read on raiser:
    tight or passive: fold
    loose or aggressive: push
    weak: stop-n-go
    average: flip a three-sided coin.

Why are you putting the raiser on such good hands?

If my range was that tight, then a call is the correct play.

But since I think the raiser could easily have a hand like ATs+, or QK I like the push here preflop. The push could also get a good player off of a mid/highish pair because he knows you know he has a good ahnd and yet you are still willing to push.

I'm probably pushing here. That raise doesn't look threatening to me, and this early I don't interpret an EP limp as worrisome either.

Why no reads? Did you just join the table?
