Bankroll management question

    Default Bankroll management question

ok i already read the bankroll management guide and i did not see this anywhere. Also, i didnt know where to post that because all those guides are locked.

anyway, I have about a $30 BR right now, so i am playing $2 NL, which gives me 15 buy-ins. Which is about recomended, but lets say one day i am playing great and totaly tearing up a table. Lets say i am up to $10 on that table.

Now i have 1/4 of my BR at the table (30+ the 10 i made). Usually there is another person with more then me (or at least enough to make a un-pleasentful dent in my stack) too, so 1/4 of my BR is at risk.

Should i leave the table and come back with the $2 buy-in agien? or continue playing with my $10???

If you are scared - which it sounds like you are (and reasonably so since it is a big chunk of your roll) - I think it is best to leave the table.

If you are playing balls out - then the other big stack is also giving you a chance to basically double your roll. So that's something to think about as well.

Assuming playing a larger stack does not negatively affect your play from a pyschological standpoint, having a big stack should be +EV. I'd just reccomend not getting deeply involved in a pot with another big stack unless you have a big hand.
Currently at UB playing $50 NLHE 6max.
    Bankroll: ~$1900 (Almost BR'ed for 100NL.)

I dont feel im playing scared, i generaly try to stay out of large pots without the nuts.

Im just making sure this isn't a big no-no, because if i were to ask, should i move up to 10NL with a $40 BR just because i feel i can play at that level, I would be told that is a bad idea, because even the best players take bad beats.

Wouldnt the same idea apply here?

The difference of moving up is that you would be taking a 1/4 of your roll and playing against a full table of opps who could destack you.

In your question/hypothetical you have already made quite a bit and can use that to control the table - you just need to be careful of ONE other opponent.

I think having that big of a stack compared to everyone else should only be an advantage.

Yeah basically it just comes down to confidence about wheather you should leave the table or not, if you feel you can either stay away from or double up off the other big stack then sure play away. Make sure you remember though that when he pushes that big stack in the middle against you, he is repping a really big hand - make sure you also have a hand to back your stack up.

Don't move up to 10NL yet, one bad day and you could loose it all. If I was really confident and I was sure I could move back down if things went wrong, I'd start taking stabs at 10NL at about $80.

I've just started to move to NL. Is there much of a difference in play/skill level from most sites' 2NL to 10NL (or even Party's 25NL)? I'm bankrolled for 25NL from bonuswhoring and if I get spanked for a few buy-ins I'd drop down, of course.

Party's 25NL is the entry level for NL there. Play is varied though. You have your mix of people learning the game, your bonus whoring rocks, and your maniacs.

So, if you were to go to a site that doesn't allow clearing bonuses at certain levels (like at Royal Vegas where you need to play at least 50NL to clear), you can play at the lower levels without dealing with bonus whores and the people there to exploit them.

If you only play one table at a time, Pacific is good for it's table fishiness, and there are no reload bonuses there to clear, so you don't have to deal with whores.

I didnt read the whole thing but when Ferguson(sp?) took 1$ to 20K if he ever had 10% of his BR at one table he would leave the table and rejoin. That seems like a good idea.
