Default A demonstration of why I suck :)

I played this sng (playmoney) at UltimateBet the other day.
I finished 4th, never seemed to get a good hand pre-flop.
I've recorded all my starting hands plus a note on what I did in the hands I was involded in.

I try to play a little after the starting hand chart on FTR, but I only got a couple of group 5 (gr 5) and one group 4 hand I think.
I've marked what I think are the critical hands with a ***

I feel my mistakes were that stupid hand when I called the re-raise with nothing and got beaten by the full house; overbetting my straight and failing to play agressively enough

when I missed the flop. And, unusually for me, over-use of the all-in. But I'd love to hear any other comments. Particularly if there were any hands I oughtn't to have folded.
I folded if nothing else appears.

Start: 10 players with 1500 in chips.

    93, QJ(gr5) fold to raise 100.
    Q4, Q7, T2, J4
BB(30)- J7 fold to raise of 140 from button (A8s).
SB(15)- K6 (call), Flop: (Q4Q), fold to a bet of 20 (J4) who lost to (AQ)

    4 players now: 8930, 3110, 1500 and me 1460

    T7, K3
    ***88(gr4) 8d8s, raise 105, 1 caller.
***Flop 7A4 all spades. UTG checks, I bet 240. UTG folds.

BB(30)- 43, fold to bet of 60 from player 1.
    SB(15)- 62s fold to bet of 60 from player 1 (99).

***55(gr6)- UTG calls (TT), I raise to 135, am re-raised 240(AK) and fold.

    63
    ***BB(30)- 97s clubs, flop 8sAcAs, all check,
    ***turn: 7s, bet 90, 1 caller
    ***river:8h (great, sevens now useless). Bet 270, re-raised 540.
***I call (why?). He has A6. This seems to be just foolish, but did I do anything right?

Now massively short stacked, 755 vs 6500, 4500 and 3200

***SB(15)- K8 (spade and heart), call the BB, flop: TcAh9c, all check
***Turn 7s, I check, then call a bet of 30.
***River Qc, I check, then fold to a bet of 95.

    Q6,
    ***K2s (gr7)- Go all-in(695). Everyone folds; win 75.

    ***BB(30)- Q8, 3 callers, so check.
***Flop: 49J (rainbow), I check and then call a bet of 30.
***Turn T. Go all in. Everyone folds and I win 240.
All-in was surely overbetting here (almost 3xpot) but I thought that since I'd gone all-in the previous hand someone might be willing to risk it to get me. Espcially since the highest card showing is a J.

    ***SB(20)-69s, call BB
***Flop: 78K, check then fold to a bet of 160

    97, T3
    ***BB(40): 87, check, other 3 have called.
***Flop: K94. Check, then fold to a bet of 40.

    SB(20) K7, fold to a raise.
    95s, K6

    ***BB(40)- J6s call raise to 80.
    ***Flop: 482 all check.
***Turn: K. First player checks, I go all-in, they all fold. (win 240)

    SB(20)- 73 call
Flop: AJ9, I fold to first bet.

    I have 940, 3rd has around 3000 the other two around 5000.

    ***A9 (gr7)- All-in (Ad9s), two call (2h4h and 5s6s)
***Table shows: 4s 9h Th 6h Ks giving the 24s his flush.
Probably desperate to go all-in here, but

Fourth place. And this seems to be fairly typical of how I play if I don't get a good hand or two early on.
I rather worry that even at a $5 SNG I'd be shredded playing like this.

Starting hand charts are different for different games. Some people will tell you that starting hand charts are useless or hurt your game. That's not true, especially if you havent' been playing for years. You need a good baseline to work from.

But you do need to understand that starting hands for limit are different than NL are different than SNG are different than MTT (which changes as the dynamics of the game change - as do SNG tactics).

If you're going to play SNG's then read the SnG board. There are GREAT strategy guides there.

Play poker is to real poker as monopoly is to real estate investing. Remember that and deposit some money as soon as you can.

It is very hard to give any input about your hand without some more vital information - position, blinds, stack size and more

Select a few hands that you had trouble with and post the entire hand history
