building big pots...is a play like this +EV?
Don't have any hand histories to back this up, because I don't think I've had a good situation to use this play, but I was wondering if this is considered a +EV play:
let's say you're on the button/SB/BB with a marginal drawing hand, say TJs or a baby pocket pair. about 4-6 people limp in front of you. do you think raising to build a big pot is a good idea here? it seems to me, especially at low stakes, that the early position limpers will call, figuring that the late position limpers will also call, and if they call, the late position limpers will feel pot stuck when they're getting like 11:1 on they're money.
so you're building a big pot, you'll have much better drawing odds if you hit a draw on the flop, and if you hit a set with a low pocket pair, you have a much bigger pot to win. I haven't really done the math behind it, but it seems like putting in one more SB into the pot in order to get another 4-6 when you do hit would be worth it and +EV. does this sound like a good play?
