your play?

i'd put him on a semibluff w/ a flush draw and call.

I usually fold here becuase you've only invested 1.5 and have a weak overpair.

how bout if he bets 2.5, you raise it to 7, then he pushes?

I think in both cases he's rep'ing an overpair, which is what he's likely to have. You have 10 outs on the overpair (8 straight outs + 2 set outs), which gives you a decent draw (40% chance of hitting by river), but not strong enough to go all-in on. I would call any smaller bets he makes (but dont raise him) and hope to hit and destack him.

If he pushes right away, then I say fold, he's almost certainly got a higher pocket pair.

Also from what I remember, people at 50 NL arent that fond of semi-bluffing (well at least not as much as those at higher stakes), though it is a possiblity.

i think a raise is neccessary if he bets 2.5 or 2 because it looks like a normal continuation bet and a lot of the time you will get a fold out of them. then when he reraises all in id put him on a draw since he is a shortstack.
