Question on hand last night
Well had fun last night/this morning in an MTT at Absolute (and yes it was a freeroll as I just wanted to try some new tactics ).
Around 1/2 way through I realized it was 2am and I was tired as so I tried to bleed off chips going all-in on nearly every hand, started catching flops or stealing blinds so I decided I wanted to win the tourney and just be late for work (haven't won an MTT yet and will take any win, even a freeroll ) so I kept up the image but only on good hands such as Lederar's chart, Ax suited, A9+ unsuited and suited connectors 5-6 or higher....actually seemed to work, ended up 5th and could have placed higher if not for taking my 2's up against K's
Was interesting though, even with my tactics I only ended up seeing 11% of flops, 73% win if flop seen, 17% games won, 76% won at showdown over 500 or so hands.
Anyway, had this hand around the end of the tourney (think around 50 or so people left, if that) and wondered if, even though I won the hand and busted him out, I played it wrong at all.
He was short stack on small blind and I was in early position. I had the read on him that he's lay down to a reasonable sized bet unless he caught something and was going to fold if he re-raised or chek the flop if I hit nothing. With the flop bringing an OESD I was determined to see it to the river if I didn't hit and was cheap enough. Flop bet was hoping to force him out, figured with the way I'd been playing he couldn't really put me on anything but the draw.
I don't understand his play on the turn with 2 pair vs an obvious draw, unless he was hoping to check raise me...Wouldn't it be better to push there from his point rather than give me a free card to draw to?
The call of his push was a no-brainer to me after the riverm think I actually clicked the "Call all in" button before it appeared on my screen ~lol~.
Anyway, as I said, if anyone can see anything I did wrong or that could be exploited in the same situation I'd be most happy to hear it.
