BR has hit $200 now so moving up... :)
Thanks for your support and encouragement everyone. :)
I don't even bother with my 'green line' anymore. That line affects my BR of course, but that will take care of itself over time. I'm only interested in my orange line so if I jam with AA PF and get...
IMO, the best series of articles written for the beginner on EV etc...I post this link on other sites...makes it all seem so simple..
Hope it's ok to post this here, but just wanted to say thank you for all the feedback on hands I posted so far. I haven't been posting too much or studying. I feel I have the knowledge to beat 2nl...
Villain looks like a fish over 44 hands and one that is probably going to make calling mistakes. Do you think you are ahead OTT? If yes, then bet and if you get check raised then it is an easy fold....
Ok, good stuff, but why not have a shot at 5nl at $150 and then 10nl at $250...I think there's a big jump from 2nl to 10nl....
I would put that $ 600 to the side for now and make sure your game is solid enough to beat 2nl and 5 nl before you move up to 10nl. So deposit $ 50 wherever get 50k at 2nl and 5nl under your belt...
I agree my analogy is flawed. I mean, an umbrella is infinitely more useful to someone standing in the rain than a Maths degree is to someone who wants to be a winning poker player.
Agreed. Mathematically, we have to assume that our skill level relative to the skill level of the other players in our 'pool' remains constant, as the number of hands we play increases, which it may...
Thanks Mojo...you are a gentleman and a scholar Sir... :)
Mojo, I appreciate your enthusiasm and think you are a great poster.
I don't want an advanced Maths lesson.
Put it this way.
When it starts raining (and it rains a lot in England) I put up...
Still thinking for some reason that I beat Premium pairs. I'm becoming more aware of paired boards now.
I look at it like this.
I win $100 a day playing poker.
On the first day, variance is calculated as - $50 so this has a huge affect on my winnings. 50% of my winnings.
On day 50, variance is...
Let's leave it here Mojo,
I believe that a players VPIP/PFR stat over 500 hands is going to be fairly reliable and waving a piece of paper in front of my face with a Maths Qualification on it...
Not going to do the exact maths but the answers in simple terms are:
1) extremely unlikely
2) unlikely
3) highly likely
In conclusion, VPIP and PFR stats are pretty reliable over a sample...
You seem to like to use a lot of mathematical terminology. You're explanations aren't clear and I not even sure if they are relevant.
Have a look at this Poker Variance Calculator.
...
Yes, but we are not taking the amount of hands into consideration here, only the amount of trials.
So if we did 100,000 trials of 50K hands
and then 100,000 trials of 250K hands
and then...
Yes, it is extremely unlikely that you will get exactly 5000 heads if you flip a coin 10000 times but it is still the most likely outcome. It is highly likely that you will be close to 5000, in other...
Maths Question for Mojo.
2 players play infinite HU poker hands.
They both shove PF with KK and AA
Over an infinite sample who has won the most money if we only look at the AA vs KK hands....
Maths Question for Mojo.
A player puts money into the pot with the top 50% of hands.
What is the probability that this players VPIP = 10% over 500 hands?
What is the probability that this...
4) Extremely patronising.
It's simple really.
You bet on tails.
You flip a coin 30 times and it comes up tails 20 times. You have been lucky.
It comes up heads 20 times. You have been unlucky.
You flip the coin an...
I realise this, but you are saying that a sample of 500 hands is too small with regards to an accurate VPIP/PFR read.
VPIP/PFR stats of 13/9 of course doesn't mean that a Villain raises the top 9%...
