Well, my math might not be correct. Solving for theta isn't exactly a trivial thing and I just tossed it into Wolfram Alpha, so I dunno how accurate that is.
But the question is interesting because your first common sense sanity check is incorrect. By adding 6 feet of length to the belt, you can actually lift it significantly higher off the ground.
