Overseas Grinding
Going to keep a journal/blog of what is going on so hopefully it will make me more accountable for things and motivate me to work harder and do more.
I just landed in the UK today and the whole journey was just brutal. The whole day back in NYC I was packing and moving shits out and cleaning so the person I sublet my place to can move in. I got sick the night before because my gf kept insisting on sleeping with the windows open. Flying overseas while sick is not fun.
Once I landed in Heathrow and got to immigrations it got worse. They kept me there for two hours questioning the shit outta me. All diff kind of questions. They searched me and searched all my bags. I think the thing that made it suspicious was I had a one way ticket and the amount of cash. I was carrying about $5k, which I thought was okay since 10k+ is what raises suspicion right? I mean i never looked into it just going by what I heard. But anyways they kept asking why did I bring so much cash and why only one way, how long will I stay, etc. Eventually they called up my family in England who are UK citizens and talked to them and took their info down and finally let me go. Not sure what I wouldve done if I were to get turned back. They gave me a 6 month visa so I gotta figure something out within these six months...either a way to stay here longer legally or some other country to go to or something.
Tomorrow I will start trying to get things done that will enable me to activate my stars account again. Gonna try to get a utility bill then a bank account then neteller. Not sure what kind of problems I will run into. I am hoping to be up and running on pokerstars within 2 weeks.
In the meantime, not really sure what I can be doing to be productive. I took most of my BR out of the US sites..left only like $350 so I might dabble with that for now....the plan is once I get my utility bill + bank account, I will probably sign up for a Euro site and bonus whore there for a bit until PS things go through....after reading about people's stories on 2p2 it seems it takes awhile for PS to approve your account even after getting your documents so in the meantime I would definitely prefer grinding in a euro site than on sites that still take ppl from the US.
These six months will pretty much be my final attempt at online poker. If I am not successful, I will move back to NYC and put my college degree to use and look for an entry level position for a 9-5 job (ofcourse still play online here and there). Everything and everyone I know is back home in NYC. My gf (well ex now) and I broke up. We both agreed that long distance would not be a good idea for both of us. It wasn't easy by any means. Leaving all that and grinding for a entry level salary is not worth it. If I cant make atleast 1.5-2x what I would make from a job back home, then I will seriously consider different options.
