Go look in the thread titled "Improving FTR" and look at the last couple posts. K? Thx! bai

If xianti decides to just use these to update the current Digest, I'm fine with that.

    dranger,

I've put the contents of the current Digest at the top of your OP here so you can modify it. Rather than starting from scratch (and creating the need to edit the Digest again), please use it to better organize and update the existing Digest. Mind the formatting and be consistent.

Talk to Stacks and bjsaust about possibly reorganizing it into new categories. I kind of like what Outlaw suggested here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...53.html#720104
...but that list of categories is incomplete.

However, maybe the BC Mods have a better idea. Also, consult with them about removing obsolete topics, that is, those which go over strategies that do not apply any more in today's games.

Finally, it sounds like you have a couple folks willing to help out with this (from the Improving FTR thread). Work with them for best results.

    Thanks!

p.s., I think what Outlaw suggests is a multi-tiered system where the main Index sticky (in this case, the new Digest) links to other sub-category index topics which then link to the individual threads. This might be a good solution because we have so many links now and you'll be adding more. Again, let's see what the BC mods think. Maybe it'll get too complicated, I don't know.

fair enough. thx for pointing it out, I hadn't seen it yet.

Thanks Xianti, I was wondering where all of those links came from when I went in to edit it again lolz.

I like the idea of a multi-tier system, too. I'll talk to stax on IRC tonight to see what he thinks, until then I'll just keep adding posts to the list at the top.

I'm in. First of all we need to add:

BigSpenda's Five Biggest Leaks of a Losing NL Holdem Player:
Leak 1: Playing a wide range out of position,
Leak 2: Poor table and seat selection,
Leak 3: Value betting and bet-sizing,
Leak 4: Adjusting to certain player types, and
    Leak 5: Hand reading.

This is Poker 101 for noobies and intermediate players alike. Gives some theory and lots of practical advice. Tells how to think about poker.

BJaust wrote a series he called "Thoughts on Beating the Micros." Each one is worth a read.
Thought 1: Winning small pots and losing big ones,
Thought 2: Value betting the best hand,
Thought 3: More on value betting.,
Thought 4: If people don't fold, what other affects should that have on our game? ,
Thought 5: Dealing with the "He's bluffing" syndrome,
Thought 6: This shit aint rocket science! , and
Thought 7: Balance is overrated at the micros

I'll look through more threads this evenin' and later this week, then try to come up with some more stuff.

Tbh, I've been planning to update the digest for a while. I building a more in depth, and easier to access digest, that would also encompass all of the FAQ (also updated), would be great for the forums.

The only real reason I have to do this is because I became aware of FTR's intentions to upgrade to vbulletin in the (Hopefully) near future. Vbulletin happens to have a few features that would aid in organizing the digest, most notably the ability to add bulletins, whereupon you can then expand or collapse the bulletin for easier viewing. And I've really been wanting to update the digest in this manner as soon as FTR transfers (if) to vbulletin.

So basically, I didn't want to have to update the digest, then reformat it again once vbulletin comes, and the new future comes. If the switch to vbulletin is too far away, then I'll gladly re-vamp this digest, removing obsolete posts/threads, adding new threads/posts, as well as reorganizing.

We will be switching to vBulletin. However, it won't be for a while. Our programmers are busy adapting all our customizations to the new board (some of them being coded from scratch) and there is still quite a bit more to do, then we have to troubleshoot before making the final switch.

We had hoped to do it this year, but it looks like it will probably be in 2010.

Stacks, what are your thoughts about the reorganization? What could guys like dranger and I do to help? I'll keep busting out possible new content itt, but is there anything else you'd like suggestions on or work done on?

I'll have to think on it for a bit and get back to you. As things look right now, I've more than likely just caught the coveted Swine Flu, as I'm feeling like absolute dogshit, and heading to the doctor later today. So unfortunately, I might not be around as often for a few days.

As soon as I start to feeling better, I'll get back here, and try to get on this.

As far as ideas for organization, currently, I really don't have any, so I'm very open to suggestions on the most viable ways to organize the digest.

A couple of posts I did awhile back got requests for a sticky but they never got added. The first deals with ICM and the second with Variance.

If they are not worthy, that's fine. I just thought I'd throw them out there.
