Default Major Milestone!! My Bankroll hit $1000 tonight.

I am so stoked right now, I could scream. I'm not yet at my goal of $1750 for $50NL, but reaching the $1k mark feels like the best accomplishment I've made so far in my poker journey.

Thank you to everyone here at FTR for the encouragement, ass kicking, and good advice. There's no way I would be at this point without the people at this site.

Congrats man! Keep up the good work

Nice job, 1k is a big deal.

However, take it from someone who's been there, don't let the number have any psychological significance to you, because if you drop below again, the desire to get back over can overpower your skills.

Just out of interest, how long was you at 10NL for before moving up to 25NL and how much did you move up with?

    Gratzzzz.

I gotta be hoenst though, it always seems (karmicly) whenever I brag about my poker, aside from blogging, my BR takes a hit over the next couple of days.

I haven't decided if it's my ego, normal variance, or some other unkown force.

I hope that you don't swing back down, good luck and god speed to 10k.

n1 - I should have made this ages ago but I'm crippled by not being able to play often enough. Also, I suck.

I only really started to truly learn poker last October when I joined FTR. At that time, I restarted with $250 playing $10NL, and was able to take a couple of shots at $25NL by December when my BR hit $500. It was a big learning curve, and I went back and forth 3 or 4 times. Very frustrating. I started 2009 back at $10NL and something really clicked for me this time. People always say that poker promotes when you're ready, and that was the case for me. My last 3k hands at $10NL ended with me crushing it at about 40BB/100 or so, and the transition to $25NL seemed very natural when my BR hit $650. I've officially been playing $25NL for about a month, and I'm running at 12BB/100 since I moved up.

It just shows the extreme effectiveness of the "Otter Strategy". Imagine your BB/100 when you have mastered it!

If you have the time to play I guess you will be rocketing through the stakes now.

Always nice to see fellow contributors owning this game.

    LOL at otter strategy reference.
Congrats dude! I got around $900 before I get to 1k, but hopefully I can reach it by the end of this year (I got boot camp for 13 weeks this summer, so that takes a bite out of the time I get to grind). See you at the midstakes one day (hopefully ).

mastering "otter strategy" consists of completly ignoring the priciples of otter strategy. It's a reference to one of our new guys who started on FTR with a crazy exploitable strategy. He quickly went bust playing witout BR management guidelines, and now is on a true learning path.

My location states that I'm mastering otter strategy. This has two meanings. The first is poking fun at the original strategy, but the reason I continue to make the reference is because of what he's doing now. He admitted to being a poor player, started an operations blog, and is seeking advice and working to be a contributing member of the forum. I'm rooting for him whole-heartedly.

    Congrats!! That was quick.

KB, just saw this and wanted to chime in congrats congrats. 1k was a big psychological thing for me, when I busted through that barrier I just went a huge "play good feel good" roll. Hope the same happens for you. Like others have said, every thousand will happen much faster than your first. NH.

KB, awesome job man! I'm right behind you on my way to 50nl. I've been grinding 25nl and I'm at about $700 now. I want to know why you are waiting so long to take a stab at 50nl. I plan on 2 tabling 50nl once I reach $1000. This way I can concentrate on how the play is different from 25nl. Once I hit $1200-1300 I will start 4 tabling 50nl. I 4 table 25nl right now for a 12bb/100 profit. Seems like you are a good player, give yourself a chance to try 50nl. I dunno how many tables you play at once but maybe start playing 1 50nl table along with the rest. Once you start making profit, make it 2 50nl tables, etc etc. Best of luck! See you on the tables soon.

'cause I'ma BR nit!!! And I learned my lesson the hard way moving up to $25nl. Personally, I need a larger cushion than 20bi when I move up. I may take a shot at 1250 or 1500, but there's no way ready for it right now.

Being a bankroll nit allows me to be a (properly) aggressive player. I steam too much about getting stacked or even coolered. If others can play their game with only 20 BI's behind, then gj at the micros. I sure couldn't.

And here's the thing. If you're crushing the micros, the BI's come fast enough that you get promoted quickly with a strong strong chance of "sticking" at the higher level. Awesome job, KB. Keep us updated with your progress.

This is where I am, too. It allows me to be aggressive and play my game not worrying about a 5BI downswing. I haven't had too much of a problem when I get coolered or stacked, but that's all because I play overrolled and the loss seems insignificant.

And as far as moving up now goes, I'm in no big hurry. At my current winrate (12bb/100), I'll be there soon enough. I feel like I've really hit a learning stride at $25NL, and I'm in no mood to just rush through it in the name of moving up.

Thanks to everyone for the awesome words of support! It means a lot to me, and I look forward to congratulating you all on your acheivements.

Hey we both have 12bb/100 at 25nl! NICE!

That's good you're a bankroll nit. I like taking stabs at the next limit once I reach 20bi. I haven't had to drop back down yet so I'm confident in 2 tabling 50nl at $1000. Good luck kb. Keep us posted as to how you do.

    Nice job. I'm at $480 in 10NL and 15.85 bb/100
I'm waiting til I hit at least $700 before moving up as I am BR nit now.
