    Default Classic FTR Threads

Check this out: Robb's Classic FTR Thread Links.

I posted this thread few weeks back. And I have continued to add to my own classic thread list in my operation thread.

There's lots of "classic" FTR advice and content there, not necessarily contained in stickies or digests, complete with descriptions of what's in each thread. It's geared especially toward noobie's, but there's really good stuff for most microstakes players.

Check it out, then start one of your own

Would you suggest any of your classic links be added to the Digest?

This here is pretty good discussion about playing PPs linked from your Operation thread:
    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...es-t31291.html

One thing though about that thread however is that no one seemed to mention the fact that you occasionally lose the pot with your set, whether it be a higher set or better. Adding this equation only makes the 1:10 rule seem even less -EV than before. I generally followed the 1:10 rule until I read that discussion a while back.

Anyway, probably not the best place to post this reply but figured what the hey...

I think Robb's operation thread is a digest all in itself.

Thanks for the repost of links, this reading is great timing for me!

As I delve deeper into my learning, I appreciate FTR and the regulars and mods here more and more. You guys totally rock. I don't post much but am soaking in all the advice here and really really appreciate all you guys.

    Kudos.

Yeah, I've got a couple suggestions - I'll think about it a bit, and post a reply here later today.

I guess I'm stuck here because I'm not quite sure what makes a thread "digest worthy." If you are looking for a thread with the original post very sound, sort of a "stand alone" post, I would suggest two by Spoon:

Blindstealing 101 and Raising Behind Limpers

If you're interested in ENTIRE threads, where a good question is asked by the OP and answered with classic, solid content, I would suggest the following (and I've included my thoughts on what makes them great):

Playing PP's Read Lukie's post, 3rd from top, and follow from there. Discusses playing small pp's in midstakes games, but the concepts are pretty well explained, especially in Fnord's, Renton's, Miff's, and Lukie's posts throughout thread. At the end, thread hits implied odds for sc's, and JefferyGB weighs in with more great content. This thread got me to dump the silly 10x set odds in favor of 15x at 10nl and 20x at 25nl.

Question regarding 3betting and 4betting by a reasonably good player with awesome insights provided by guys like Fnord and Spoonitnow. Good discussion of 3betting, where, when, why and how.

Should I Stop Raising Preflop. Bigslikk asks about preflop bets and bet sizes and gets a nice discussion of Stack-to-Pot Ratio and how effective stacks influence preflop strategy by Fnord. The most detailed and coherent discussion of SPR I've found on FTR.
