your BRM nitiness should be a function of how comfortable you are at beating the stakes in question, and how comfortable you are with the swings at those stakes.

The swings are higher in tougher, more aggressive games. I personally found the 50NL -> 100NL transition fairly easy, and went with a 20BI rule for both. I tried 200NL with 25BI last year and failed miserably 3 times. There was definitely tilt involved. I recently moved up again with 40BI and found it far more comfortable with that padding because the daily swings can easily be +-1k and when I had my first -1k day with a 10kish roll it didn't affect me even close to how it did when my roll was 5k.

It's a personal thing, just try to be honest with yourself when determining your own comfort level, and don't underestimate the psychological value of having a fat BR behind as a cushion for a rough fall.
