It's not bad. We're fine 3betting AKs, and often okay to call the 4bet. If you thought he was shoving light, it's standard to call.

If he had a bit shorter stack size is calling an all in bet ok.
Definitely worth a call for a shorter stack. Against a full stack, you have to decide how likely it is for your hand to be good. AK is dominated by AA and KK, and coin flips with QQ - 22. But AK dominates AQ, AJ, etc. If you think he makes this shove with, say, AJ+, then you're ahead against his range and should call it down.

The range needs some work. What Ax hands do you think he might have? And I'd be surprised to see someone all-in 4bet with JTs, QJs, or KJo. Even a loose all-in shove is probably more like AJ+, 99+ and KQ.
Use pokerstove to analyze. It's a great tool to answers questions like this one.

Getting 4 bet with AK sucks. Often, we'll fold. Typically, we'll call a min 4-bet since we're priced in. But it sucks. But 3betting is great with AK - just need the 3bet to be bit bigger, maybe $1.25 to $1.50. Standard line is to 3bet at least 3x the raise amount. 4x the raise is good, especially when we have to play oop for the rest of the hand.
That doesn't matter here, since he would still shove over the top. Just for future reference.
By the way, this hand is fine. You had a read. You went with it. You learned something. Don't get results oriented. OK, so your read might not have been expert. So what? Your reads will get better, but only if you trust them and keep playing based upon them. You'll read it right often enough to learn when you're right and when you're wrong.
