Default would like advice on how to multitable

i know this may be a strange question with the number of posts i have, but i usually play only 1 table at once, so i can get on yahoo mesenger, read forums and the like. sometimes ill play 2 sometimes ill play 4 and never more than 6. i dont see how other people do it.

to do 6 on my screen, i have to make the tables so tiny, its hard to see if someones got 1700 chips left or 1100 left, which is very important to know in my double or nothing sngs. i can easily do 4 by putting 1 table in each corner of the screen, it still needs to reduce the size of the table a little by not nearly as much. when ive tried to do 6, also the timer seems to beep constantly.

these new double ups are so easy id love to be able to try to do more tables. and i have no idea how people hook up 2 monitors, how much a new monitor would cost--(could i get one under $100) and if theres not a cheaper way. ive got my screen resolutions changed to where my computer looks bigger,(by that i mean more room for tables-- and ive forgotten how i even did that i did it so long ago.

Umm get a new monitor or glasses. You SHOULD be able to see all of the text on the screen.

Don't get on Yahoo messenger, don't read forums

This is one of the things that actually got me to be more disciplined in playing better quality hands. The first few times I tried to 4-table, I had that problem with the beeping, and finally dawned on me that I could benefit by putting myself in fewer tough postflop decisions. It also moved me toward examining positional play more closely.

I now 6-table on Stars and cascade the tables, as Badgers suggested. I would probably play more if I had a better, bigger monitor.
Sue me if I play too long....

If the res on your screen isn't high enough to tile and still see the tables rather well, then you should look into cascading. I currently cascade 14 tables on a 17" (shitty res) laptop. There is absolutely no way I could play more than like 4 tables tiling, without massive overlap. And even though I cascade, I can't stand the kind of overlap you get from tiling (just all random it seems).

    I don't like cascade
Seriously, I like to see whether the range I put my opponent on is correct
How do I know what hands people are showing down if I don't see the showdowns?

Hmmm i've tried cascading and just wasn't for me. I don't like not being able to see what is going on at all times. Go Go tiles.

Thinking about it, cascading would probably help alot of the results oriented people. You make a decision and move on. There is no setting there seeing the flop and how you would ahve smashed it with the nuts and stacked the villain. You can generally miss that and be okay that you made a +ev decision and be happy.

As far as ranges go, you can always kick on the table while you haven't any action on the others and look at the showdown. With just a little practice it isn't hard to follow action on tables that you have already folded out on, if you feel this is a critical hand for you to see.

    ...and this

I do find it easier to follow the line when you can see the table (and trying to scroll through the HH using "last hand" on FT is a pisser....). However, cascading def gives more options for more tables - and I like the bet/forget tilt preventing mechanism. Sh!t - if you've got auto-reload, you may never even know u lost!

Anyone know what the optimum monitor size/res is to multi-table? I like to 4 table and on this crappy 17" monitor I can only cascade and still make HUD usable. I would like to tile and have each one be nice sized.. I too think its a must to watch all hands, not just the ones you are in.

    Thanks in advance.

1600X1200 is perfect for 4 tabling tile. That's what I did and worked out great, nice n big. Currently I am doing 1920X1200 6 tabling tile. No overlap or anything and HUD shows up perfect. If u want a screenshot or anything pm me n I'll send.

I guess I am wierd, I like to have each table taking up the entire screen, and I manually click on the taskbar to go back and forth. I admit I can only do about three this way.

i normally play 13-16 tables, tiled across my laptop screen and a 22" widescreen. I don't play stars, so i haven't tried the cascade thing - I do think that cascading is likely to result in fewer/weaker player notes.

Yea I can see em at the sametime but the ones where there is action brewing and im not in a hand are the ones where they get my attention. Also this way I never miss a showdown. I just wouldn't be able to notice such things in cascade.

my point is that if you know which tables are more important to an extent that you know where to look, you can also do this in cascade by clicking the relevant table and bringing it to the front. Yes cascade does make you lose the ability to use your peripheral vision, but that's pretty hard to do effectively and you can play 24 tables on one screen which more than makes up for it.

    This.

I did try cascaded 9-tabling $10NL at FT last night for sh!ts and giggles. Pro is that I could actually do it... 9 tables tiled on a 21" makes my HUD too damn small. Cons is that notetaking was damn near non-existant as there was always a new table popping to the top for action. Guess I could have pulled a table out of the cascade temporarily to review the line, but that then I had to deal with FT's crappy HH review...

But maybe I am just slowz....
