When I sat down to try to figure out the game, I got 2/4 and I never really identified JKDS or Boog as villagers, I knew JKDS was being unreadable and pegged him for a wolf (though I dropped bigred from the list) when he wouldn't budge from OngBonga when it was hilariously obvious what his role was and I didn't really care that I didn't read Boog because I was really confident in my incorrect TLR/NightGizmo reads.

This set up was very interesting, the problem was the players. The village lost this game for the same reason it lost the last game - not one single villager stepped up to try and win. Rong, I think, is the most massive offender.

Basically, the village follows the most horrible advice, the overwhelmingly pro-wolf advice of not discussing anything for fear of the wolves coordinating. This is grossly incorrect for what should be obvious reasons now. For the wolves to coordinate, they'd need to identify themselves to each other and identify their actions to each other. If they're going to signal their role/kills to each other, the risk signalling to villagers.

Obviously, the best advice is to push for everyone's reads on everyone else at all times and always ask people for what they think we should do. "I don't know, I don't care" is genuinely the worst thing a villager can say (which is why it is so lame that so many people say it across so many different versions of the game). The overwhelming lameness coming from true villagers allowed the wolves in two straight games now to win.

Beyond that, there was a wealth of knowledge available to everyone because you legitimately could have thought like a wolf. They were in exactly the same position as villagers except they thought of themselves as wolves. So pretend your a wolf and see what you start thinking and see how you think you would manuever, then identify the people who are moving like you. Assumptions about how wolves would play would actually come from you pretending to play like a wolf - that's so much easier than trying to hazard the signal from the noise in how you perceive night actions.

I thought the depth to this game was incredible, I thought the design made it very interesting how you get information in the game, especially for me since I was the only person who had to legitimately worry about the wolves managing to coordinate properly and really only if I went to captain it up for everyone or was otherwise valuable to the efforts. I dumped my 4 names but didn't campaign for them even though I put a lot of work into them.

And finally, across the last two games, if I rand villager and play as I normally would, the village has a great shot at winning. But I'm done playing as I usually do since I'm fed up with being the only guy who ever steps up around here. I'm going to continue to play as I did this game - to lose. If I'm a villager, I'll try to feed in valuable information without explanation and if I'm a wolf, I won't. And that won't change until someone else actually tries to win when they rand villager instead of just waiting to rand seer.

Lynch Rilla

Meh, two wolves howled, and I already crossed the line twice with my posts in the forum sticky. My earlier rant which I cut down to 1 line caused Hoopy to artificially step up his game and I should have never tried to Aragorn-speech someone into stepping it up at the midnight hour.

And besides, JKDS's last minute maneuvering assured wolf victory.

Just wanna say that 'rilla neg-repping me for not getting his confusing ass crap pretty much makes him a bitch. That is all.

It was day 6 of day 2 and there were like 3 or 4 wagons with 2 or 3 votes each and no one was moving their votes you come in a vote for an entirely new wagon!

I'm interested who the other wolves voted for on night 1, I went for rilla but at least 2 wolves must have gone for someone else?

I guess I mis-remembered, but I was frustrated that the village was scattershot across so many choices and no one was acknowledging that they had to start moving towards a consolidated wagon to move the game forward.

But you only fed that fire by confusing everyone by flip flopping over everything you "know". If you don't want to be seen as the leader of the village in these games that's fine but you went reverse and actually misled the village.

Btw, neg-repping in the game thread should be against the rules and grounds for banishment. It makes people not wanna play and isn't good for the game.

I agree that I shouldn't have done it but I never flip flopped on the things that I knew. I either wanted to lynch someone I thought was a wolf or someone who could be lynched. That's not flip flopping, that's staying in the flow of the game. And never did I mislead the village. I simply didn't lead the village.

Here's where I voted for ong to try to close out the wagon. I listed the votes to show my reasoning. I was on ong because ong was the top wagon. In the next post, I even highlight the time when the day started so people would recognize that we had to move forward.

Both times they're different from trying to lynch people I thought were wolves and both times I tried to show why - because we needed to lynch someone so that the talking point of there not being anything to know could change.

I assumed we'd poke around for a while trying to find a wolf until we were in a must lynch situation and people would actually bolster down and try to figure out what they know.

I still don't get how we ever know anything. Aa a wolf in this game you'd be neither happy or unhappy with any lynch as you have no info. The game is normally the informed minority vs the uninformed majority. But that changed this game and I still don't see what anyone did that was either villagery or wolfy.

Well, as a wolf, I figured the end goal would be to be the final wolf. Since at 4 wolves, kills will almost never succeed. The wolves would almost certainly only manage to get 1 kill at the most while there are still 4 wolves and that power increases as their numbers fall but is only really meaningful at 1 final wolf.

So a wolf only wants to survive, doesn't even care if they lynch a fellow wolf since it's much easier to get 2/3 on the same name than it is 3/4.

A wolf would be very interested in not tangling up with anyone, not defining his role based on other people, not making enemies, etc. The idea is that you don't want to get spite targetted or id'ed as a source of info.

A wolf also wanted to keep all lynches as plausible for them and others. They can't know what the village will look like in a few days so they're going to want to not id anyone as solid villager candidates, only as solid wolf candidates. That way, they can push to lynch, or follow in a lynch, or just generally lynch anyone. You can see this in JKDS's play when he can shrug and move from one wagon to another. This is key to their success since a wolf is only interested in being among the survivors every day as he works closer to a time when he actually has the power to kill.

I thought, incorrectly, that a wolf would also want to keep the village believing that there's nothing to pay attention to since that has obvious value to the wolves. I believed that wolves would sell the "nothing to know" angle hard since it's both plausible for a villager to not feel like they know up from down and incredibly valuable.

So, for instance, rong you had a post where you said you had some ideas but didn't want to share them. This said to me villager because a wolf doesn't want to put themselves in a position where they can be pushed for info.

While TLR was saying that he doesn't value anyone's reads and basically doesn't know anything at this point, which I thought was indicative of the blank slate sort of approach that wolves would value.

I think under these general assumptions of how the wolves play, you could have identified wuf, ong, supa, rong, myself and jackvance as villagers and TLR, NightGizmo and Hoopy as wolves. Bigred was a special read by me based off of two things unique to his play in this game that I noticed.

This is why I'd have lynched you first.

I was going to out myself at some point anyway and tell wolves to lynch whomever posts first each day. BUZZKILLINGTON

I tend to agree with rilla here. Wufwugy and Ongabonga are almost never wolves based on the way they played. Both got close to being lynched, but neither orchestrated a plan to guarantee night kills. Both also came out and screamed villager with their fake outing thing.

@Hoopy: Uh, totally wasnt me. Yup. Totally. Ok it might have been me. I attempted to stress how likely a villager wufwugy was in the hope we'd kill him at night. I figured if ppl didnt pick up on it, theyd be voting for rilla anyway.

While Rilla may be right, I still don't like the game like that. I tried to not be a douche about it, but it eventually seemed like nobody living cared

I realized I didn't like the game when I tried to do what I normally do like making stupid soulreads of the entire wolf team on Day 1, but that no longer became possible due to the wolves not being sure of each other

I had JKDS as my prime suspect after the TLR villager nom, but went wuf anyway because I stopped caring too much (the only communication was people saying the game sucked, and insta-bolding), and we were probably dead anyway. Bigred and Boog were both on my list of possible wolves scating low, after the ong lynch we still had 4 wolves and the field wasn't that big, atleast one of them HAD to be a wolf. I had no idea about Hoopy though. I was thinking Rong might be a wolf, but yeah wuf made a good point about the list mistake from lolzz mostly clearing him.
