Default pushing action to post flop in loose passive games

    Hi all,

I play in a weekly home S&G that averages 7 people. We start with stacks of 4K and the blinds go every 35min starting at 25-50. The game is pretty loose. I have found that I do better when I just limp and take alot of flops and push the action to after the flop where I find a lot of these players make big mistakes.

I do this rather then raising pre flop in situationswith hands that I would normally raise with because I know that normally after someone limps in that will normally call the raise unless it is a total monster. For example last week I am on the button with AQ three limpers in front of me blinds 25-50, I bump it to 250 total and the big and the all 3 limpers all call. This makes it difficult to play if then anyone bets after the flop when I blank. So I rathe like to take a lot of flops when I can cheap and then play after the flop. This works real good when I flop two pair with something like 10-7 and an ace flops too. Is this a good strategy for this type of game, or is this the wrong way?

    Thanks,

    Jutah

I still raise AQ with position, will you make 750 from them if you limp AQ and an A comes? I think no. You're raising for value. If you miss be prepared to give up. OOP I'll likely call.

That being said, nothing wrong with limping trashy hands trying to flop big.

Your game should be based around reads (especially if it's the same people every week). Know who will call big bets with any draw, who calls medium bets with MP, who gives up when facing big bets, etc. Against the first 2 don't cbet AQ when it misses, against the 3rd it's good.

Even in a game like this I would prefer to:

    - As swiggidy said, raise for value! In a game like this, hands like AQ are very likely the best hands preflop, you want to build a pot with them such that if you hit an A or Q on the flop you're winning a much bigger pot. Agree as well that if you miss the flop you can either c-bet if they're likely to fold bottom pair or a gutshot or c/f if they'll call. Many players like to see lots of flopsWith such deep stacks you can afford to give up and still not have burned much of your stack.

    - I still wouldn't limp with complete trash, with stacks at 80x BB and long blind levels I'd still be looking for something like SCs and small pocket pairs that a) can flop something really big and b) are easy to play postflop. The problem with hands like (say) Q4s is that if the flop comes Q high, you have no idea whether you're good against calling stations who might have middle or bottom pair but might also have you outkicked with QT.
