Default OT: What's the worst player you've found on Sharkscope?

Sorry for an off topic thread, but what's the worst opponent that you've found on sharkscope? My worst had lost $5,500, and that was $5-$10 at a time! There were also quite a few others who had done $2,000++ - mostly just down in a straight line, without any positive "variance".

Invariably you see these guys trying to recoup their losses at a higher level, often at the $55s or even $109s, or digging themselves a bigger hole by taking a shot at the $20/180s.

If you had these sorts of results, you'd wonder why you wouldn't realise at least one the following:
    - Maybe I should spend 5-10% of what I've lost buying some books and learning how to play the game
    - Maybe I should do a google search for poker strategy?
    - Take a small % of my losses and find a poker coach
    - I suck at poker, I'd be better off playing chess/backgammon/scrabble/tiddlywinks, whatever
    - I have a serious gambling problem and need to attend GA

I know its sad isnt it? I am glad I disovered sharkscope though, it rocks! ever notice when you sit down to a 180, the whole table usually has a little goldfish swimming around next to their name? but some of those folks have lost alot of money!!! I almost feel bad for them...

    Sharkscope?

www.sharkscope.com - although it isn't 100% accurate, it claims to have captured the results of over 8 million PS and Cryptologic SNGs. Try it - 5 free searches per day.
  5. #5
Seems pretty accurate on my stats, as Tai said i think its just SnG's though not tourney or ring.
  6. #6
Whenever I play somebody who plays just so badly that you think "OMG how can they be so moronic?" (like people with 80%+ VPIP the whole tourney, or idiots who call AI bets with jack high) I look them up and 95% of the time the stats confirm my reads.

    I quite like Sharkscope.
My stats seem pretty accurate on there. (Just to give him a bit of kudos, check out TLR's stats ... forty2u ... impressive!)

I also paid the $8 for 200 searches (on top of the 5 free a day) so I run a SS search on all my opponents whilst I'm waiting for it to start. I have seen some uuuuber fish about.

Will have a look when I get home from work and report back!

Interesting. I don't really know if mine are accurate seeing as I didn't keep stats for the first year I played (and was a pretty bad player). I must have done pretty bad without keeping track because according to this site, I haven't made much money at all.

These do seem pretty accurate (and for me, depressing)

    lol!

You can change all that. Go to "preferences" and switch it to the "WLPWL" style. Super tilt means you haven't cashed in 8 straight.

You can also adjust the "Shark" and "Fish" settings - i.e. increase the sample size, adjust the %'s to define shark and fish.

Worst player ive ever played against is this guy:

    dnd007
    Games: 585
    ROI: -30%
    Income: -$5,904
    Super Tilt
    PokerStars

    VPIP: 75%

    Interesting...

I mean come on, wouldnt you stop playing and take up say.. reading? Its gotta be less expensive..
  30. #30
    wow! nice find!

Didn't know my stats were as good as they said... looks like the return to SNGs for a short stint was justified.

Why on earth do I bother keeping my own stats?

recently I was at a table where , no shit, 7 players had ROI between -25 and -50, with hundreds (if not thousands) of games played. It boggles the mind!
  32. #32

How can people continue to keep playing?
  34. #34
I think they just don't realise the extent of their losses.

Somebody on 2+2 made a good point, when these guys suck out on you DON'T tell the table that they've lost $x thousand and that sort of play is why - you don't want them realising the awful truth then stopping donating their money.
  35. #35
good point..... I usually keep quiet, and sometimes give someone respect in the chat when they have really good stats- usually dont say anything to the poor souls who have lost x thousand.

    just a quick point...

Why do none of these tools like PT and sharkscope etc cater for the VC site?

I play most of my poker on VC (thats about to change though now iv found these tools lol) and was just wondering if anyone knew why these tools dont work on this site.

    regards

The site needs to have good hand histories... (I'm not sure if VC has reasonable hand histories or not) But without good hand histories, the programs cant import... Also, for programs like sharkscope then need to have public MTT/SnG results.

    Try looking up:
ElKy (the first player to reach supernova status on pokerstars)
    The Grinder

ilikeaces is a big fan of ElKy.

I hate sharkoscope. It reminds me that I don't beat the rake. However, my sample size is so smalll, I could literally win 4 $27s in a row to cover my rake losses.
  47. #47
Can someone please look up 'elky' and 'the grinder' and post results (i have used my 5 free for today)

Elky shows how he hit supernova so quickly, but I guess 8 tabling $525s Turbos isn't that smart. I don't get how is ROI is still 4% being down almost 50K.

elky was playing the 100/200 game and the 10/20 NL game too - he was like 10 tabling on stars. he got to supernova in one freaking month. ONE MONTH!!! 100k FPPs... i dont even understand how thats even possible lol

getting supernova would be easy 10 tabling 100/200 he and 2000nl.. every single hand you play would earn you a fpp, and 10 tabling 8 hours per days is like, what 4-5k hands per day? plus once you move up the fpp's start to go up faster.

    ok ignore the "easy"part.
  61. #61
its still somewhere on the order of 50000 hands in like 25 days... but on the other hand it IS elky... who is just a compulsive gambler

LOL Im the biggest asshole ever.. I pay for sharkscope , and you can stats entire tables at a time, so when I am 4 tabling the 60 dollar turbos I just stats all the players at the start.. when someone does something that pisses me off .. I'm like "And that is why you are down $6k"

I love sharkscope, has it helped my game? no not really.. but it made me realize that literally 95% of the players at the 60 dollar turbo level are losing players.. lol, its insane : ) I have a screenshot where my entire table had negative ROIs,.. very negative.. I'm sitting there with 30% ROI.. they all have -40%... lol makes me feel happy : )

I dont think anyone can expect to make a steady profit at the 500+ turbo sng level.. everyone there is playing a turbo exactly how it should be played.. they are all pretty much expecting to breakeven overall too. michael1123 is a VERY good player, however sngs arent rocket science, and regardless how good you are, you can only get so good at a turbo sng : ) The players at the 500 dollar turbos all reached that level and they play there just to maintain their skill. If they wanted to make money, they'd just go to partys ministep5s (400 dollar sng).. and they could probably maintain a 30-50% ROI there easily (since all the players suck ).

Yup, stats can be decieving sometimes : )

It's a shame my Stars account got suspended. I was doing ok on the SNG's according to Sharkscope, but too small a sample size to be conclusive.
