Default Making $$$ from SNG and MTT's

    Hey guys.
I see alot on Full Tilt Poker that you can play $1,4 sng etc and the payout cash prizes are really good, even the satelitte tokens.

Even the $10 buyin games have $100 prizes etc.
Is it a good way to build up a bankroll or to have a go at it when you have that extra money, or do you believe play the .50c/1 sng's and work out.

Has anyone made a big profit of sng's or mtt's ?

Even playing entries into the big cash tournaments seem pretty good.

    Thoughts, Opinions ?

    Cheers.

Ive made almost all of my money from sngs and mtts. I built my roll up playing the 11s and just kept moving up. If you have a small bankroll then the $1 sngs and other small buyin sngs will be good to build a roll since they are so soft. I would stay away from the sattelites since it sounds like you dont have much of a roll and you wouldnt want to then play the higher buyin tournaments that you sattelited into since it would represent such a large % of your bankroll.

It's worth mentioning that in MTT's you will inevitably see very large downswings. You need more money to play them regularly than most people think initially. The general minimum accepted roll is 100 times your regular buyin, meaning that you want over 1k to play $10 MTTs regularly.

With SnGs you will make the money far more often, so you can play on less. 25 to 40 buyins should be plenty for the lower levels.
    I run a training site...

    welcome to FTR!

you sound like you're pretty new to poker. so here's the most profitable advance you'll ever get. BANKROLL MANAGEMENT. you could be the best player in the world, and you'd still be broke if you don't practice good bankroll management.

so...if you're playing SnGs: have 20-30 buyins (including rake).
if you're playing MTTs: have 100 buyins
if you're playing limit: having 300 big bets ($300 at 0.5/$1)
if you're playing NL: have 20-30 buyins

How many buy-ins would you need if you were just gonna play the Heads-Up SNG?

i've never played HU, so i wouldn't know for sure. probably 30 because i suspect it would be pretty high variance. but then again, i've heard that people are really bad HU too, so it might even out to be the same amount as regular sngs.
