    Default ITM %

Quick question: for $10+1 SNG's, what is a good ITM percentage?

    Thanks.

Seriously, you should worry more about your ROI. I have had ITMs in the 50-55% range and am only a little more than breaking even because of all the third place finishes.

Lol. I just now read your other thread.

What's a good ROI look like then? I've played on several sites for some time but I decided that it would be a good idea to start keeping records for my SNG's at Pokerstars.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask, since my ROI on my logged game exceeds 100%...but I have seen 40-50% thrown around before.

If you are breaking even and learning as you go, you can consider that part of the ROI. It's knowledge you are gaining, which may be more valuable than the money. That knowlege should translate into a higher winning % over time and a better understanding of your game. At least that's what so-krates would reason.

I just copied this from another post I made this week and updated it to include the last two days of SnG play.

    January: Single Table - Played: 41 - Placed: 21 - ITM: 51.2% - 1st (5) 2nd (9) 3rd (7)
    Two Table - Played: 15 - Placed: 7 - ITM: 46.7% - 1st (6) 2nd (0) 3rd (1)

    February: Single Table - Played: 43 - Placed: 25 - ITM: 58.1% - 1st (8) 2nd (11) 3rd (6)
    Two Table - Played: 6 - Placed: 4 - ITM: 67% - 1st (2) 2nd (0) 3rd (2)

    Overall SnG stats: Played: 105 - Placed: 57 - ITM: 54.28%

I had never calculated my ROI for SnGs only. I use poker stats and a spread sheet, but I have always combined my MTT and SnG results to calculate ROI.

    Buy-ins: $1113.00
    Winnings: $2328.00
    February ROI: 109%

And just to put thing in perspective, here are my results for for February so far when I combine SnGs and MTTs (R&A and Freezeout)

    Profits: $555.06
    February overall ROI: 26.43%

Just goes to show you how much money I do spend on MTT buy-ins and how poorly I am doing this month in MTTs. I am basically supporting my MTT play with SnG play....one day soon I will hit a huge MTT win and all the effort, money and time will more than pay for itself. Hope you find this information useful....I found it enlightening just figuring it all out.

After 18 (I realize way too small of a sample size):

    1st: 3
    2nd: 3
    3rd: 5
    No place: 7

    ITM: 61%

    ROI: 55%

    How's that look?

    In 2 table, 100% ITM with a ~700% ROI..

or is 1 SnG to small a sample?

    =)

I'm not exactly a great player, but i'm getting ~40% ITM in ~20 $5+$.50 games... still a small sample, but i'm working on it.

I enjoy SnG's and MTT's more than rings, but I make more money playing Ring.... So i've been playing more rings than anything else.

    Q. Is poker Gambling?
    A. Do you use correct bankroll management?

I've decided to keep a record of the SnGs I play, since everyone seems to be doing it. So far so good...
    SnGs Played: 7

    1st: 3
    2nd: 0
    3rd: 2
    4th-10th: 2

    ITM %: 71.4

    Total Profit: +$660

over my past several hundred games, I'm ITM about 46%. over my most recent 50 games, it is much higher. I've been on a roll. I'd guess it's close to 60%.
You really do need a decent sample size to know if you are on track. Like it was already stated, ROI is better for analysis, but ITM can give you a good ballpark look at how well you are playing.

    good read this thread!

I have just started keeping records of this but, out of 15 SnGs:

    4 1st
    1 2nd
    3 3rds
    7 4-10th

    ITM: 53 %

    ROI: 86%

my bankroll is up to an enormous 98.50 ... (needless to say this is playing 5$ games)

In MTTs numbers are 2/5 ITM finishes (51/562 and 40/367)

ROI a staggering 1%! ..hey at least I'm even ..lol

Having a good time though ..

jdubs, that sounds fantastic. keep it up and wait for a really good analysis once you hit 50 or more games. Here's my most recent 50. I'm back down to 44%. My ROI is 47.3%. Pretty happy with that, thanks to my huge number of 1sts. I have changed my game around in my past 100 games or so. I hardly ever bubble out any more, and 3rd place is somewhat rare when I'm ITM.

I only hope that after my poker hiatus that i'll be able to bounce back at about these levels.

    1 10
    2 7
    3 5
    4 2
    5 6
    6 6
    7 8
    8 3
    9 2
    10 1
