Oke so this the thing, got the nut flushdraw, and although a poor one still a open ended straight. My A could be good here too, when he has something like AK (unlikely cause of the gayraise IMO) then my 8 is good.

The way i look at it i'm more then a 50% favorite, but then again its the first hand so is it worth it????

So should i shove here? A call is to gay cause that doesnt win me anything, i might get some fold equity if i shove but unlikely cause of the massive overbet.

    yes, it's worth it

Yeah that was my thought too Drmcboy.

What would you say he had?

If you have 15+ outs after the flop you are always a favorite.
Call me crazy but I personally like getting my money in while im ahead
Get your monies in fast and make a woooosh sound with your mouth when you raise

I partly agree Squeaky, thing is his range here is IMO AA, KK, QQ maybe AK even more maybe a lower pair (but thats remote IMO) against this range i'm 50% cause of the counterfeiting (dunno if you call it that, but you understand right(.

When AA the least (cause my straight is worth its full 8 outs). Although takes out my A as out

KK, makes my Q for the straight worthless. QQ takes away outs on my straight draw. although like i said the A is good in both cases.

So the real question is is a Coin Flip on the flop worth it the first hand of a tourney????

no, he can have KQ, AJ, any set, QJ, two pair, etc

Yeah Funny you say that bout KQ Drmcboy.

I was discussing this hand with my pokerbuddy, he said the same thing. But I just know he doesnt have the straight. The gayraise first hand UTG tells me to think of a major hand. So KQ is most def not in his range.

AJ would be possible and i would love to shove it in when he has that.

QJ and JT isnt really in there, but offcourse could be.

A set is idd a possibilty, would explain the weird overbet in some cases. But why the gayraise preflop then???? And then when you hit your set go beserk on the flop. IMO this overbet really shows the play of a overpair.

I made my calculations on that assumption.

My math my be a little off lets say his range here is: 99+, AJ, AK, (KQ will show up sometimes) maaaaybe Q8
If he has AA making one of your outs dead: Youre still a little better than even money, about a 55% favorite
Even against JJ or Q8 you still have about 40% equity in this pot
and AK makes your Ace and your Queen dead outs but you're still a slight favorite
All in all your a small underdawg to ~10 % of his range, but to answer your question Yes, its worth it on the first hand! Ill get my monies in eagerly all day long here. more times than not you turn up a favorite!
So stretch it out eat your wheaties and get ready to race!

Hahaha, yeah idd. I knew i wasnt a dog in this hand idd.

But oke no matter what if its the first hand get it in. Cool, cause i was discussing this with my friend and we where both like: oke, its not a bad play but...first hand you wanna do this??

    Thanks guys.

Oooh BTW, i shoved here and got called, after some serious thinking on his side, lol maybe some fold equity there???

He showed KK and a Q made him the higher straight.
