Default Basic preflop question: AT on button ($27)

Sorry for a basic preflop question. UTG's stats were about 21/11. He started off very loose and tightened as the blinds increased, seemed like a solid player.

What's your move here? Fold, call, raise to 400 or shove?

    1 fold, UTG+1 calls t100, 3 folds, Hero ????

Started off loose and tightened as blinds increased isn't a solid player in my book.

I definitely raise here. Do you think OPP has you beat very often? Do you think he traps? Do you think he reraises preflop with air? Those are the questions I ask when considering whether to make it 400 or push.

Most of the time I answer no to all three, and make it 400. If he pushes, I fold. If he calls and checks the flop, I bet. If he calls and bets the flop, I might push or I might fold, depending on what I think it means and what exactly the flop looks like.

    I raise it.
    Lets review our options:
Folding: I think folding AT to a limp is waay to weak
Calling: Most likely scenario is SB limping, BB checking/raising, so now you have to either call a raise preflop or play AT 4 handed, which is not great.
Raising: I think this is the correct option, I raise it 3-4BB and take it from there.
However if he calls and leads out after the flop I think folding is the correct move.

I probly raise here to 400 as well hoping to take it down pf. How do you play the flop when you miss and he checks when theres 950 in the pot and you only have 1100 behind?

More of a question on how much do you bet in this spot. I dont think you have much of a choice but to push if your going to bet at all.

I was all geared up to raise if it was folded to me on the button, but once UTG+1 limped I actually did fold. In retrospect I think it was too weak/tight, I should have raised this to 400.

Meh, there are a few $27 regulars with reasonable ROIs over 1000+ games that I see who play very loose level 1 and 2 trying to catch a big hand and stack somebody but revert to a "normal" VPIP for a good player once blinds hit 25/50 and 50/100. Don't think this strategy is optimal but if they are good postflop I don't think it's awful.
