Bad push?

    Default Bad push?

opps numbers were about 20/12. This is 2 1/2 hours into a $20 s/g on stars. Very long game. Over the previous 10-12 hands opp has raised to 1200 with wide variety. I floated him twice to take chip lead than lost a small pot to get to this point.

After the hand I felt like a simple call would have been better. However...with the blinds as they were I would have been calling off more than 10% of my stack so I pushed. is this bad logic?

I put opp on A -x at best.

So it's not the worst push? Opp had a king but I don't care. I've done that before too. I'm past the bad beats.

I'm trying to get more agressive from the bubble on. Doing well but this one I questioned. I may have been able to play small ball all night and squeek out a win but the push felt so much better!

    You played it fine

If opp had been raising most every hand heads up, you could push with all aces and mid/high kings...so having AJ is a great

TY all. I'm past being results oriented....trying to learn better play. This particular S/G had 4 of the 9 players up over 4.5k on scope with solid ROI's. Very tough game. Played TAG and did ok.

Great advice on ranges fjuan1. TY.

    Finding my game
    ...and twice on sunday.

AJ heads up is a monster hand, I would push this against anyone no matter how tight they are. Against a lagg I agree with fjuanl's range.

For a 10max (?) sng 2½ hours is madness, I think the longest I've ever played was closer to 1½. With an incredibly tight table like that I'd be more than happy to steal the blinds every chance I get, I think you haven't been nearly aggressive enough in the late game.

Push is just fine, but you said that he calls with a wide variety, so you know its going to be a race. So, you made the correct play, he just got lucky. A simple call is definitely not the correct move because of your stack size.

No its not going to be a race, thats what makes this so good. A large portion of opps range is worse Ax's, meaning often when he calls we'll have him dominated. Thats a great position to be in.

no i meant, even if he had a pocket pair, or any medium cards, ofcourse it is going to be a race...
