4xHU tourney for review. My first $10.25 games.

Not sure what BR guidelines are for HU tourneys (espec the 4 player ones), but I had about 32 buyins so gave one a shot. First game seemed a bit passive, but it worked. Passive play early let me steal some good pots later.

2nd game I was up for a lot of it, but never really felt in control. A couple of bad hands did me in.

I saw 3 hands in the second match that I didn't like and everything else looks fine.

King high call in the first match is hilarious. A bluff is the only hand that makes sense for him to have there, but I'm not sure I'd be able to call with king high. Ace high would be an insta-call though. Don't know what else to say about the first match, that guy was a fish and you owned him.

Hand 17 bet flop, he might be slowplaying something but you can worry about that after he calls you. I'd pretty much never check 2nd pair HU in a limped pot, unless I had a read that the guy was going to bet any turn and river with air.

Hand 27 is good but when you play a decent pot and he mucks river you should look up what he had because it helps you get reads. Post his cards in the thread too.

Hand 32 I bet flop you have an OESD and backdoor flush draw and he probably doesn't have an ace since he limped.

Hand 36 is close between playing it how you did and re-raising / getting it in pre-flop, depends how much he's been raising. I'd prob get it in against this guy.

Hand 40 & 44 - these are ugly and it all starts with you calling a pre-flop raise with complete junk, that's not the way to fight a LAG. Not sure how I feel about river call on 40 I could go either way. Hand 44 don't ever do this against people who slowplay a lot, when they raise and check flop they have a big hand too often.

Hand 45 very well-played, way to not be a wuss.

Hand 47 I probably bet the turn. I only like checking if you think he'll bluff the river really often.

Last hand I'm probably not getting away from but you could have put more money in on the flop and the turn. If someone bets 1/4 pot on the flop then you need to raise his bet more than 3x. In Hand 40 you bet 560 when you were bluffing so do it again here.

OT: Have you ever thought about playing cash games? I think you've learned enough about hand-reading, from your HU experience that you could be a winner at 25NL 6-max. Think about taking a shot when your bankroll gets to $500. It'll take a little practice to get used to how much hands are worth at 6-max, it's somewhere between HU and 9-handed SnG's.

I've played a little bit of cash lately. I tend to go well, then lose focus and lose all my winnings back with a dumb hand. A bit more practise should help me keep my concentration though. I'll start browsing the short handed forum also .
