    Default Regarding AKo

I'm getting caught in the switches with this hand here in cash games. In tournaments, AKo and AKs are big, big hitters for me. In cash games, a common occurrence is me raising 3x with AKo, a couple of folds, and then someone 4betting me and I really don't know how to proceed other than call. Miss the flop, hand's over. I'm just worried about running into JJ+ and I feel like those are the only hands that are going to put stacks in preflop or OTF itself.

I've done a bit of research on the subject but like a lot of things in poker, it all seems to be highly situation dependent. For me, in the nanostakes, how would FTR suggest I proceed with this hand?

    Thanks

It's ok to fold AKo to a 4b pre flop. Depends a great deal who you're up against, of course. But most people at micros are not 4betting light. I'm not folding AKs, but AKo I can quietly fold.

Calling and then c/f bad flops, I think this will be +ev against those who 4b light, and it's probably better than 5betting. But I'm not sure.

No, my experiences mirror yours in that nobody is 4 betting light in the nanos. Villains very rarely 4b shove with anything other than QQ+...sometimes JJ.

We are talking about getting 3-bet (three) here, right? Not 4-bet.
Or what am I missing ?

    Call 3-bet, re-evaluate on flop. I like 4-betting a lot. But I am not a CG specialist.

Wait I thought he said 4b.

Don't fold AKo to a 3b, that would be horrible.

It depends o who the villian is, and the effective stack. If stacks are like 40 bb or less I 4bet all in the 3bet, because they fold a lot, and its less likely for villian to have AA and KK since they only have 3 combos on each. The rest of the hands you are either flipping or winning, and thus you have a lot of FE. If you see that the villian only pushes QQ+ then its ok to fold.
But never flat call to a 3bet with AK, you have to 4bet

I have trouble with these too.
    4Bets I would fold to
3Bets.. check the villain. Call by default but be cautious.

The exception is the 3Bet Shove overbet you sometimes see which is usually a weaker Ax or small/mid pair.

I forget exactly which video I saw this on (Grinderschool) but they stress playing AKo IP since it's only going to hit on the flop about 30% of the time, you'll be left OOP missing the flop 70% of the time. I've been playing it more IP and having a far easier time. Like most hands, of course it's easier IP. It just misses so often and isn't an already made hand that it's naturally going to perform better IP.
