Good post mcat, I agree with this for sure.
But I think at the end of the day, making big (correct) folds, value betting at the right times and bluffing at the right times all comes down to making good reads. If you can't make good correct reads, then you can't do any of these other things properly.
And obviously, making good reads is strongly dependent on dead bears.
