ubernewb LoLdonkfish software question

I am aware of the power of PokerTracker and Hold'Em Manager. I want to get one or the other, but not yet. My reasoning is that they have a free trial period and I want to make the most of that free trial period when I move up in stakes.

So, in the mean time, i'm looking for a much lighter software that can simply look at my 888 (Pacific) hand history files and spit out my VPIP and PFR and maybe a couple other basic stats, preferably with some filters (by game, stakes, table size). I'm also hoping to find such software for free.

I'm not looking for a HUD (frankly, if you can't identify the nits/fish in 2NL in two orbits you should cash out your bankroll and go buy a beer with it), I don't even care if it updates live.

I'm already winning at 2NL without issue, but I wouldn't say I'm crushing it and there' s no question I'm a little leaky here and there.

Anything out there for me?

There are free versions of tracking programs out there. I've never used it, but I've heard FreePokerDB is pretty good - that'll allow you to run reports on your hands at the very least.

Thank, Pascal. Looks like I could save a bundle on my tracking software by switching to freepokerDB.

Anybody here used it? The installer looks a little daunting (well, lack of installer) and the project a little sketchy (quality-wise, not Chinese password-farmer-wise), but I think I'll give it a go.

Been using it a couple days now. It is clear that this isn't a commercial product. The installer took a LONG time, but i may have been following instructions from an older out of date version. If I just started by getting the latest i might have been okay.

Also, the hud doesn't work on 888 (Pacific) and it looks like the help forums are BUSY with bug reports.

The stats works nicely and once it is up and running it is definitely useful. I'm looking forward to having the hud fixed, hopefully their tech support is on the ball.
