Default Help test some new software...odds calculator, etc...

So I just started to produce some software tools to help hold'em players (myself included). The first of these to be released is a fairly simple poker odds calculator.

See: http://www.pokerdavinci.com/sw/handanalyzer.php?dir=2 for an idea of what it looks like...

The Basic Edition (free version) lets you compare any two hands and will allow you to produce the following data at the various stages of play:

    * A graph of win/loss/tie percentage
    * A graph showing the distribution of various possible final hands (e.g. number of times a flush will hit versus a straight)
    * Charts of the above data
    * The number of possible boards still remaining
    * etc, etc...

The full version will let you do much more detailed analysis, compare up to 10 hands, import hand histories from online play, etc, etc.

I am looking for people who want to help me test. The basic version is basically done and can be made available this week. I am looking for input on the full version and what you consider the most important features (as well as other SW you'd like to see)...

Just for the record, this software requires Windows and uses .NET 1.1 (which you probably have or can get via Windows Update).

Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested...

Just to give a better feel:

Has anyone tried it out yet?

How much are you paying the testers?

I was going to test it out, but when I went on the site there was no way to download it.

Is this true or am I just being an idiot again?

*grin* No you aren't being an idiot. I guess my subject line was a little deceptive in that it implied that the product was ready to test. If you read the posting, you see that I was asking to be emailed if you are interested in testing.

I am currently collecting emails and will send out notice when the basic version is ready -- that should be within the week. Hopefully within a day or two. I just need to finish up the installer and one little feature.

lHoney2: *grin* Here's the plan. In general, I like to give active beta testers free versions of the software. Of course, the basic version is free so that ain't much is it? If you help test the basic version, you will get early access to the full version in beta as well - and if you help test that, you would get a free version. And would (if interested) become part of a pool of testers who would get free access to future products as well...Fair enough?

Dolphinwhore: I have. It's very cool! Do I count? Seriously, I'll send you a copy if you send me an email or PM here...

    Default BETA available...

So the beta is now available. It is being administered through the forums on our site so I can control access and know who is testing. You need to register here:

    http://www.pokerdavinci.com/forums/

and then send me a PM (or email) to get added to the BETA user-group (which lets you access a private forum where the download link is available and discussion of the sw takes place) - If you have already requested access, you only need to register and I will automatically add you to the private group and let you know that it is done...

I'm wondering if this is going to ever go for online play... Where it's just your hand and no one elses...

Actually - and I haven't tested it so maybe it's there. - would be the ability to test a given hand against:

    "the field" (a random hand)
    Ax
    Suited connectors.

    etc.
    Not just individual hands.

The basic version (the one in beta right now) doesn't have those features. It does a very good job of comparing two hands (and I find it a very useful analysis tool) but is semi-intentionally limited to that (what do you want for free?).

However, the full version will potentially include the type of features you are talking about.

Features that are in discussion for the full version include:

    • Ability to compare up to 10 hands -
Customization of player names, colors, etc. Choice of card decks and backs.

Ability to click on the win/loss graph to get to a breakdown chart of the hand results - a chart of the hand results (e.g. straights, flushes, etc).

Ability to "drill down" into chart and look at individual hands (e.g. what boards make me a straight-flush)?

Ability to compare a hand to an "unknown" hand (e.g. A7s versus an unknown hand). This takes a *long* time but is interesting.

Knowledge of pot dollars. Ability to define the current pot-size and produce a chart/graph of the resulting real pot-odds for various hands (e.g. what are the odds of hitting a flush and therefore how big does the pot need to be to justify a call of $X)

Ability to import play histories from online play and "replay" them in VCR style while analyzing each hand

Produce a summary chart of a series of hands that have been analyzed to see what the odds were at each stage (e.g. pre-flop, flop, turn, etc) - highlighting bad beats, etc...

I have more ideas for this app but am curious to hear other people's thoughts without corrupting them too much...

Liking that idea. You wouldn't believe how tedious it is looking through pages and pages of pure text when I'm analysing my play.

A public (full featured, free, not nag-ware) version of this is now available at:

    http://www.pokerdavinci.com/sw/HA085.php?dir=2

Please note that we are also looking for people with large online hand histories (e.g. 10,000+ to help us develop our Poker Journal program).
