On my recent trip to San Diego, (my company has a plant there) I stopped in to the "Barona Valley Ranch Casino" They had a picture of Kenny Rogers on their billboard, so I figured that's the place to go for poker. I couldn't have been more right.
I got ot the poker room about 3PM on Friday, and sat at a 4/8 table for about 2 hours before the NL game opened up. By 5 I was up $150. at about 40 hands per hour, that's more than 20BB/100! People were just giving money away. One guy lost almost $500 while I was at the table and kept complaining about his "luck."
The NL game is $100 max Buy in, 3/1 blinds. By 9PM I was up $550 on a $100 table! I thought about just quitting my job and moving into the Hotel. Rooms are only $50 a night if you log 8hrs in the Poker room.
Finally, I got comped for my trouble! I got free lunch, a pack of cigarettes and a great dinner buffet for spending the day making money.
For those of you that play Blackjack, Barona also has the best blackjack game I have seen. 2 decks, 60% penetration, double any 2 cards, split up to 4 times, double after split... and Surrender. (get half your bet back if you don't like your hand.)
