Was this too passive?

If the guy called my preflop AND my flop bets he could have KQ, KJ, or AK feasibly (maybe KT) OR be on a flush draw. Any of those I lose to except for KQ which is a tie or KT which seems unlikely. So I give the hand up.

What do you think he had/could be on and would you call the river bet? Would you bet the turn and river?

Just my unexperienced opinion, but it certainly looks like he has you badly beaten, with either a straight or a flush. Added to the fact that it's a pretty small pot makes it a hand that I would personally probably fold.

My advice is bet the turn and see what the villain does, his bet on the river could be with about anything since you look like a weak hand after that turn check.

including the turn check, its good that you folded because now you have no idea what he has and its a big call for a small pot.

since this is on pokerstars, i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say you were probably way behind. if it were party, i'd call it. he probably had at least ak, probably 2 pair or better.

i'm still learning but when something important happens on the board (potential straight/flush/boat) that doesn't exactly help me, i'll throw a feel bet out (on the turn especially, when the 'potential' flush hit. If they want to re-raise and go beserk fine, you know where you stand.

I like to make them make a decision, not let them hide their hands strength/weakness behind a check.

What hand(s) do you put him on though? What could he have that I could actually beat?

what do you think about A10 or AQ clubs? He calls your flop bet, which means his call is 1.75 into a pot of 4.10. His call is then about 42% of pot, but he is ~35% to hit the ace high flush. Thus, he justifiably calls the flop, hits his nut flush on the turn and so checks it, hoping you'll bet into him. After you check the turn, the river is harmless to him cause the board is not paired, so he throws out a bet that isn't outrageous, and he hopes you'll call. Sound about right?
