Playing crap w/ Position

Is this a bad habit? I'm still learning what I should/shouldn't do in NL. I limped on the button w/ some crappy suited cards with the intention of playing the players post flop. After I called, it was raised but only to $0.75, another $0.5 to me. Should I fold there or just continue with my plan. I don't do this often but the table was tight and my image was tight/agressive.

Not sure I'd have bluffed in that position. It's tough to put SB on a hnad that they won't check/call the river.

But good that you found that number, and they folded on the turn.

personally i think the limp isn't toooo bad, but I would've folded to the raise. .02

Any other comments as to whether I should be making plays like this?

I would fold preflop to the raise. If i'm going into the hand I want to be the one raising, not limping. I like to raise with junk cards preflop with position sometimes (if it's a passive table), and rep hitting the flop.

I was thinking you should raise more on the flop, but now that I think about it i'm starting to like a minraise. The guy who hits trip 3s isn't going to raise big over the top. It looks more like a bluff. Minraising looks like you are trying to build the pot. With that said, I would have bet out with more on the turn. 5 dollars into a 12 dollar pot doesn't look too menacing and gives better odds to call. I would have made it 9.

Ok, The reason I bet 5 was because I wanted it to look like I wanted a call and not a steal. I knew the SB wouldn't call $5 with nothing as he has shown in earlier hands.

Also, my question wasn't really specifically about this hand in particular. Forget that I called a small raise preflop after limping. If there was no raise, is this a good play or a play that I should avoid?

Just make sure the person you're bluffing has a brain, you'll have some people at this site/level call you with AK, because they think it's actually g00t (oh wait it is..).

The bluff checkraise is particularly effective, especially into a scary board like this. Just don't raise like 230947029472039742309x their bet and make it look like you want them to call.

Also depends on your table image, obviously helps if you look tight not if you're lagging it up and getting pwned by me.

Or, just camp party 25NL... Although if I get bored (card-dead), I'll utilize the bluff check-raise.
