The extent to which "media" or "culture" pressures women to be image-conscious, largely comes from the fashion industry. And guess what, the fashion industry is dominated by women and homosexual men. And the fashion industry deserves to be ripped for it; the things that they do to girls is pretty appalling. Corsets have been around for centuries and have fallen out of fashion, probably because there aren't any fashion models with enough meat to fill a corset. Also, I don't know any guys that were going around raving that Kate Moss was smoking hot.
When there's a rash of dudes telling their 5-foot-9, 130 pound girlfriends that they need to lose 20 pounds, you'll have a case.
