I laughed at idiots queueing when the Northern Rock drama hit but that was because the UK Govt had declared that funds were protected. This however is completely different. I don't have much with Stars but I still want to know it is safe. The only proof of this is seeing it in a different account.

I think the whole 'omg I have to withdraw my stars roll' is really only a first 'gut' reaction to the whole crisis that took place.

Perhaps it takes others a little longer to get over this but after this initial feeling wears off, you should feel pretty damn reassured that you'll get your money because its POKERSTARS you're dealing with. When I first heard the news I wanted to pull my entire roll as well, but I got over it once I learned more details about everything thats going on.

Whether they are able to get your entire account balance to you or not is of course an issue on its own. But even if they didn't have enough in reserve to refund EVERYONE's bankroll, they'd get it eventually. Besides, most players don't really need to cash out their roll. Only those of USA residence really have to. Everyone else should just stick to their normal withdrawal behavior - if this happened they probably wouldn't be so damn swamped. It isn't necessary for them to have every single customers full bankroll available for withdrawal instantly though I guess since it's a law they technically should. Those from countries from outside USA shouldn't really be worried though as far as I can tell - though keep in mind I'm not an expert on this....its just my opinion.

It all hinges on the civil suit, imo. Non-Americans should be fine at Stars for the immediate future but if a ruling is made in that suit, it could financially cripple the company, forcing it to cease operations. Your account balances are supposedly protected by Gaming Commissions but how? The Government insures certain percentages of bank account balances in Canada and has significant resources on hand to intervene should something happen to a legit financial institution here. But what entity is backing up these Euro/Native Gaming Commissions and what resources do they have? Nothing of this kind has ever happened before and International Law has no teeth in this matter as far as I know. Some caution is required.

You can have it both ways. There's no reason anyone needs to have his or her whole roll on the site in question in order to exercise proper BRM. Keep 10-15BI on the site and the rest in an online wallet like MB.

There's an option with like a <$3 fee for a wire transfer (in the same funds as your MB account). On top of that there's some intermediary bank charges for processing the wire transfer ($10-30 generally). But they've always arrived within 5 business days for me. I just requested one 2 days ago, it was confirmed sent by MB today. Will post when it arrives.

A Full Tilt-supported televised poker game in Cardiff, UK — The Poker Lounge — was canceled mid-event today, when the TV production company walked off the set after an expected wire-transfer from Ireland did not arrive, reliable sources say.
Supposedly, Presentable Productions were waiting on a second installment of funds from Full Tilt subsidiary Pocket Kings that had been promised by today, and at 4pm GMT, after recording the 3rd heat, they sent the camera crew and players home, with no plans for return. (The show is an 8-heat event featuring $20k sit-n-gos with seven players at each table.)
It remains to be seen whether this was just reactionary angst over a technical blip that could normally be resolved with little problem, or indicative of cash-flow and money-transfer issues that have far more severe implications. But either way, it does confirm a certain unease in the UK after problems in the US.
Presentable has been producing poker television shows since 1999, when their show, Late Night Poker, debuted in England.

i think most of the withdrawals were made after shit hit the fan when no-one really knew what the fuck was going to happen. i've since cancelled my stars withdrawal and have been playing as normal on there since (except with far more nits than i'm accustomed to)

Maybe I'm paranoid, but as I think I said above, I don't want to be caught at the wrong end of a bank run and find that others got their money out because they acted first. Plus, nobody knows exactly where this will go and what the extent of it will be.
