they are a pretty good band, but all of their contemporaries (namely Pixies, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden) were better.

Save for a few songs, I agree, Guns n Roses does suck.

Also, I don't like classifying Soundgard with like of Pixies and Nirvana, mainly because Soundgarden isn't very good and Pixies and Nrivana are two of the greatest bands of all time (for different reasons).

    i actually really liked soundgarden.

I say "liked" past tense, because now that audioslave has been out for a while, I hate them so much that I can't listen to the old soundgarden songs that i like without thinking about how much audioslave sucks and then I start to have a miniature panic attack in my brain.

    ^^^run-on sentence.
  20. #95
guns and roses had probably 5 songs that are on my shuffle, I cants ay that Ive listened to much more if any of thier music. Those 5 songs carry them into the throws of greatness.

    Nirvanna is also amazing.

november rain is a good song, slash is a good guitar player. Their cover of Knocking on Heaven's Door makes me want to puke blood. If I were a crazy ex-marine, I would have assassinated Axl Rose by now.

OK, forgive the shameless bump of this thread, but this is actually quite relevant because, not only are many of the bands mentioned again, but my mates bought me an iTunes voucher for my birthday with like 50 tunes worth and I am going to compile a list with FTR's help.

    Cream: Disraeli Gears
    Rush: Signals
    System of a Down: <self-titled>

    RATM>>>>audioslave.

Nymphetamine is a cool song ya, i prefer the heavier stuff by them tho.
But saying that, nymp is the only song by cradle they play on tv coz its one of their softest songs... kinda dissapointed.

I saw a video with the "spoonman". His name was Artis or something.

Listen real close to the instrumental after the second verse, you can hear him making spoon noises in the background.

Favorite Album: Kind of Blue- Miles Davis, This was recorded in 1965 I believe, and still sounds fresh to me, even though I have probably heard over 100 times. Pure aural bliss for about 45 min.

it is true that headphones are better for almost everything. good headphones at least. Although i've seen a bunch of crap up here that doesnt make a difference if you're wearing headphones or not. A piece of dog shit still tastes like dog shit whether you eat it with your hands or with a silver spoon.

Animals is one of the better albums i've seen mentioned here. Here are some good bands, doubtful any blink 182 listener cares....

    Lambchop
    Neutral Milk Hotel
    Fire Show
    Beck
    Aphex Twin
    Jim O'Rourke
    Spring Heel Jack
    Mouse on Mars
    The Orb
    Built to Spill
    Jason Molina
    The Jesus Lizard
    Blur
    Avey Tare & Panda Bear
    Red House Painters
    The Boredoms
    Will Oldham
    Six Finger Satellite
    Pavement
    De La Soul

And here are the oldies that deserve mention.
    Frank Zappa
    Captain Beefheart
    David Bowie
    Kraftwerk
    Pink Floyd
    The Velvet Underground
    Brian Eno
    Minutemen
    Joy Division
    Spacemen 3
    Faust
    Miles Davis
    Depeche Mode
    Philip Glass
    Pere Ubu
    Led Zeppelin
    Bob Dylan
    Marvin Gaye
    Steve Reich
    Bruce Springsteen
    Beach Boys
    Mark Knopfler

to me, the fragile starts out really strong, perhaps stronger than downward spiral, but then it starts to taper off. Whereas DS is pretty much an all around good album a la Dark Side of the Moon

FlyingSaucy, based on your list above I think you have a very similar taste in music to me. Most of the things on your list I'd put on mine if I wasn't too lazy to make one that big.

I guess it matter what you're looking for. It does taper off but I think that's done purposefully. What I like about the album is a sense of one long theme throughout the whole thing. It's a good experience. Downward spiral is also an amazing album though.

i made that list earlier this year when coming up with a list of who I think are geniuses, and just pasted it here.
And for the NIN fans, Downward spiral is clearly better, and pretty hate machine is better than downward spiral. PHM>DS>TF
